Chryco's new 4.7...quicker than the 360!

Thats right. This little V8 is turning heads with dual overhead cams and lots of other goodies. Took a 4. 7 Durango out and whooped all over an equaly equiped Durango with a 360! Not once but 3 different times. Both Durangos belong to family members. Went on a 4. 5 hour trip with both trucks and the 4. 7 also got superior fuel milage. Had to stop and fill the 360 up while the 4. 7 still had 1/4 tank of fuel. We played cat and mouse games from several stop lights, and the 360 truck lost every time.

I dont know all the 0-60 type times, but if anyone out there is in the new truck market and has the option of getting this peppy little beast, go for it! If you want to see, drop into your friendly Dodge dealer and test drive a 4. 7 vehicle.

Trust me, the 4. 7 is a rocket ship engine! The bride's Grand Cherokee has that engine, and that thing is more fun to drive than anything we've owned. Tows like crazy, looooooooong smooth torque curve and probably the best total 4X4 package out there. You'll love it.

The new Dakota truck that my wife has also has the 4. 7L next generation V8 and it is quick!Has aluminum cyl. heads. Didn't know it had the DOHC though. Popped the hood a few weeks ago to check fluids and couldn't find the freakin' spark plugs #ad
!I am pretty well mechanically inclined so this shouldn't be a problem,right?I heard it has the same HP as the old 318 motor which was 230 HP. The oil filter is a piece of cake to get to also. It's on the left front side of the motor.
I will have to get the Factory service manuals for this also. Heard it sells for about the same as ours $90. 00 or so. But I need to know what the he!! this and that is and what it is attached to!

Yhea that 4. 7 seems ok. I still like the 5. 2/5. 9 better since I know where that motor came from (1964). The 4. 7 has single cams, not double. The ignition system is whats known as "Coil on Plug", meaning there are 8 seperate coils right on top of the plugs themselves! What you might have thought were injectors are really the coils covering the plugs, they are little black square items that sort of look like a Ford Powersmoke injector from the top. The injectors are further up near the intake. I have a friend who owns a 2wd 5 speed 4. 7 Dakota Sport with 3. 54/ suregrip and all, this thing really scoots!
