UPDATE:: I posted 10/01 that new SLT that we took delivery of didn't come thru with shaded glass. Chrysler's first response was that they had a right to make production changes. Now after speaking with service rep at the dealership, who called zone manager about the deletion, they have authorized a new shaded windshield. First A/C vehicle I have ever seen without shaded glass. Also, all of the SLT models in the 2002 brochure all show shaded glass. :) :) :) :)

Does All 2002 trucks come with no shaded glass or is DC starting to put shaded glass in now? You know, one of those mid production year changes type of thing.

What did you have to say and do to get DC willing to replace the windsheild to one of your liking?

OH yea, one last Question, did the passenger grab handle on the A-pilliar get deleted for 2002, thought I heard it was along with the rear wheel-well liners.

I think that only a portion of the 2002 Rams built in Mexico came without shaded. All of the trucks that came in when mine came in had the clear windshields. Now I notice the later 2002's have shaded. Kind of appears to be supply problem doesn't it?

Had a nice chat with dealer warranty dept. lady today and expressed my feelings that Dodge was not delivering the goods the way they advertise them and questioned the legality of that. I asked that she convey my feelings to zone rep. I placed no blame on the dealership, who at this point have been very helpful.

Yes it has an A pillar grab handle, none for the back seat though.

Rear wheel liners are there also.

Mine doesn't have the shaded windshield either - so how do I get one? I have the grab handle. I think the wheel liners are there. No rear seat handle or holders.

I don't know whether you would call mine shaded or not. It just has a small band about 2 " wide across the top that looks more loke a screen. It shure isn't the shading that my 93 had. I goe mine in Dec with a Nov build date-Mexico.

Don't know what that dotted band is all about. Mine had the same thing, no value for sunscreen IMHO.

BTW, one new piece of moulding is necessary on a windshield replacement according to service rep. Mine is ordered and the glass will be installed in about 10 days. Will keep this post going if there is any problems. Campbell Dodge in Centralia Wa. has been very good to work with on this issue. I guess a couple dozen cookies or donuts are in order for the service crew. :) :)

My 2002 was built in August, I didn,t order the truck, it doesn't have shading either, I noticed it soon after getting it home. What can I do to get the windshield replaced under warranty? I was told the checkered pattern on the glass was for looks and served no purpose by an auto glass installer.

What is the fender liner issue about? I have plastic splash panels on the rear of the rear fender wells. I ordered another set of the same part number for left and right side, you can bolt these up to the front of the fenderwell if you use them on opposite sides, the holes on the fender lip match up and you will need to punch one hole on the top inside through one layer of sheet metal. The hole already existed in one layer. This helps keep mud and rocks from damaging the paint on forward underside bed panels and aft cab.

:) :) Joens,

If you bought truck new and you have A/C I think you might have a case. After I get ours installed in a few weeks I can send you the VIN and a work order # for replacement. Might mean something to Daimler/Chrysler zone rep if there is a precedent set on putting in right glass. Someone else will have to explain rear wheel liners, our truck has them on the rear and nothing in the front.

:) :)

rear wheel well liners

Maybe I was not clear on what I was refering to. I'm talking about the black plastic liner found in the rear wheel wells which I assume is to help keep crap from being flung into the underside of the bed and body panels from the tires. I know this liner was found on 1500 and 2500 series Rams. I don't think the 1 tons come with them.

I was just inquiring because it was mentioned on this board when the 2002's first started coming out that the rear wheel liners and the grab bar could be added to the growing list of deletions DC has been implementing over the last couple years. There was a thread a while back discussing the deletions folks have been noticing over the last couple year models. Sounds like DC is still putting them on the 3/4 tons. Maybe some of the early production trucks, or trucks from a certain plant did not have them due to a being out of stock or something.

I thought DC quit installing the black plastic fenderwell liners at the end of the 2000 model year. In addition, the 4x2s never had the rear fenderwell liners anyway.

Correct! 2 wheel drive trucks never had rear wheel liners throughout the 94-02 Rams. The 2wd's have always had 2-piece short spash liners, but never the big full 1-piece liners that the 4x4 trucks had used to hide the big gap between the bed bottom and frame rails. The late 2001 and 2002 4x4's have the 2-piece short splash liners that the 2wd have always used since 94.

You can put the wheelwell liners from the 4x4 on the 2wd trucks, I think they fit fine with no modification. Is that correct Mike? Evan Beck added these to his truck.

I have a 2001. 5 with may 2001 build date in Mexico. I has the full rear fender well liners. Shaded Windshield and grab handle. It is a SLT and does NOT have lighted vanities on the sun shades. SNOKING

Rear Wheel Liners

I recently purchased an '02 Dodge Ram QC and the salesman as quick to point out the new dodges didn't come with wheel liners. My 98 had wheel liners, so the salesman marched me back to parts and together we ordered wheel liners for replacement parts from a 99 dodge. They have not changed the dimensions, so the liners were easy to install. Don't forget to get the plastic rivots that are used to secure the liners to the wheel wells. The small plastic splash has to come out. The rivots holding the plastic splash are inside holes used to secure the wheel liners. Cost from the dealer about $97. 00 for both.

The Mexican Dodges are not as well made as the older US versions. I am unsure I made the right decision on selling my 98 24V TD for the 02 version. Oh well, that path is now covered with briars and thickit.

Mine is exactly the same As Snow Kings... and built in Mexico. Did not know it was built in Mexico until I got it home.

:) :) :) Update:

Dealership installed a shaded windshield yesterday. Approved by zone manager. Will provide VIN# if you need it to get an approval to right this shortage. :) :) :)
