after getting no answer from cummins ( "we supply the engine to dodge and its their problem to warranty it" ) i called chrysler and after a conversation with the tech people ,their answer was " put on any kind of air filter you want and dont worry about the warranty.

I buy fleetguard oil, air and fuel. Neither DC or Cummins can have any complaints as long as there is not a mouse nest in one of the oil filters. :) Can't do any better than that.

Did you get that statement from Dodge in WRITING ?

I would think there would be no problem with using any brand replacement element, I think the problems could be when you install a system that replaces the airbox with some type of cone filter.

Wow, that's great! Based on that statement, I'm gonna go out in the garage and make me a filter out of screen door mesh and bolt that sucker on!! Now that Cummins will really be able to breathe. All that and no warranty worries... . man, I knew this was gonna be a great day!!Oo. Oo.

rusty,

why go with something as restrictive as screen door mesh? go directly to chain link

Ain't got no chain link - I'd have to go to Lowe's to buy some. I've got some hardware cloth, though. That should be less restrictive than the screen door mesh, and it'll keep anything larger than pea gravel out. ;) :D

Chicken mesh ought to work better since the actual metal is thinner than the steel fencing mesh. It can worked easier and stretched a little too. This is too funny.
