FAQs for EcoDiesel ?

So I called the other dealers, and the closest I got was 8/22. I spoke to the service manager at the dealer that I'm scheduled for 8/22 and he said that they are experiencing diesel tech shortages in my area, and it's really impacting many local dealerships. He understood the frustration as he blatantly said he had to deal with a farmer yelling at him yesterday. They want to hire another certified RAM diesel mechanic because of the abundance of folks who drive diesel in our area. I did some very quick searching on their site for careers, and sure enough, there is specifically a diesel tech service opening, so he's not lying.

Amazing, some dealers wanted me to come in 8 weeks!

Hopefully my next update is what they find wrong with my truck. Interestingly enough the check engine light went off, but the code is still pending, but I've restarted the truck like 10+ times and the check engine light still hasn't come back on. Very, very odd. (probably jinxed it, next restart it'll probably come back on....)

While I'm happy to hear from the service manager more people driving diesels, I think the diesel service side needs to be focused on by all local dealers.

Same thing I had when my 6mo old truck CEL came on when I was in MT/ID... 3k miles from home dealers would not even look at it for 3~4 weeks which was longer than my VAC was! Every dealer told me to keep driving and call then next one, it wasnt till it broke completely that a dealer in Billings MT said they'd squeeze it in.

@bcbender -- From my recent experience, I believe every word you said.

So I got back from the dealer and they are ordering a MAF sensor and have me rescheduled for 8/28, next Wednesday.

Maybe I got a bum new MAF sensor?!

Either way it's not costing me any money, so I'm letting them deal with it.

Will keep you all updated.

So I got back from the dealer and they replaced the MAF sensor 68212525AA :Sensor :Air Flow.

Job Description: Correlation tested powers and grounds comm wires passed, tested sensor have internal short due to high resistance. Need to replace sensor and retest. Technician replaced faulty mass airflow sensor and verified active DTC went stored. Cleared DTCS and verified no active/stored/pending.

I test drove the truck, turned it on and off about 20 times at different intervals and still no DTC.

Hopefully this put a closure on this and I simply got a bad replacement sensor online.

This dealer was nice to work with so far. They at least have more than one diesel mechanic.

Unfortunately the P006D came back this evening.

Will be calling the dealer first thing in the morning to book an appointment.

Just got home from the dealer. Next step is to replace the ECU, and will take 3-5 days to come in. Once it arrives, they will schedule me in.

I got a phone call from the dealer this afternoon. They got the tracking number for the replacement ECU and it's expected to come in next week. They scheduled me for 10/30 to be on the safe side. They said they will need both key fobs.

@Diesel85, Write down any settings that you have in the truck. Everything will be erased with the new ECU replacement, hence the need for both of the key fobs. I hope that this will correct the issues that you're fighting!

Got done with the dealer this morning, and they replaced the ECU. They were kind enough to go through and reset everything for me. Only thing they couldn't do is change the oil life from 99% to the 66% that it was. They told me I'll have to do the math, which I'm totally fine with.

Truck runs the same, no check engine light. I hope it stays that way.
