Ditto. . As fast as you can. You can bet they tried their best to fix it before buying back which is an absolute last resort.

I just received an email from my credit union saying they don't do loans on buyback vehicles. There must be a darn good reason for it Huh!!!!

Thanks to one and all for the comments and input. I rec. a call from the salesman yesterday saying I better come on in by Wed. cause a boy's daddy was gonna come to town and buy that rig for him. Power to 'em, and hope they enjoy it!!!

Well, as of today, the truck is still sittin on the lot. Guess they can't get any takers on the lemon law buyback rig. I bet the salesman that bought the rig at auction is catchin seven kinds of heck from management!!!!

Yeppers,

That rig is going to be tainted for the rest of its' life. I don't think I would even want any parts that were pulled off of it.

Would be good to know the VIN and keep it in your knowledge book of No No's...

I imagine most of the time the buy backs are not bargains. I bought a 97 that had the infamous brake pull. Wasn't too worried about it since I worked at Dana at the time and parts were cheap (free). Pull was fixed and I drove it for 4 years. Some times, according to friend in the business, people will be in financial trouble and get rid of the vehicle through the buy back program. Don't automatically turn your nose up at a buy back. Do a lot of investigation and a lot of negotiating. I bought the 97 in 2000 with 16000 miles on it and full factory warranty. Only had one dealer, Tomkinson BMW and Dodge-5 star, refuse to work on the brakes. Another dealer here in Fort Wayne didn't see a problem. That was Glenbrook Dodge. Must have been the lack of 5 stars or lack of BMW. I'm sure Tomkinson is very sorry BMW came out with the 750. Kind of hard to turn those customers away.

They were probably both right, most buy-backs have several problems. I live next to a Chrysler dealer that buys many of the buy-backs and all are Cummins equipped. Most were from engine failures, and very often are replaced with new or re-built assemblies. I would not personally want to go that route, there is just something inside me that says don't buy someone else's mistake. But, they sell them. So for good or bad, someone is getting them. Just remember where they came from, and be extra cautious.

I would think a low mileage buy back would be discounted many thousands of dollars. I just bought my new 04 1/2 "600" with 48RE and Laramie H pkg plus about 6 other options for $9000. 00 off the MSRP as printed by Dodge, not the dealer. Seems a buyback with less than 20K on the odometer would be sold for 10 to 13 thousand off the highest bluebook "retail" price. For 3 grand, I would walk briskly away. I am reasonably sure DC eats the buyback loss, not the dealer.

since your in Texas I have to let you know that a dealer ship in Bandera Texas had 2 single cab HO's new on sale for 26,900. . I would check into that or ask your dealership to match that price for a new one. . I paid 29,000. . For my 3500 QC HO slt 4x4 in December of 02. . There is a dodge dealership in Corpus Cristy I think it is nash dodge. Ask for Tony Corry tell him Shane King sent you and he will more than take care of you because they Move alot of cummins there. Tony is the general manager and he will take care of you. .

If Chrysler could not fix it and ended up buying it back it must be a world-class POS. Stay away from it. If you want to buy high quality oats you have to pay a fair price. If your satisfied with the oats after they've been through the horse, they're a lot cheaper. Nuff said.
