I truly believe we are sitting on the front row, watching REAL "Trickle-down economics" in action, Liberal style! Like tossing rocks into the waters of a quiet pond, the ripples just keep getting wider, and wider, and... :(

Reminds me of the old politburo and the planned economy. What was it they had, ninety day planned economic goals or was it longer like five months? I don't think they ever hit a goal except as reported by Pravda.

Anyone remember the FORMER Soviet Union?

We're watching the same great ideas implemented again by people with the same political goals driven by the same political beliefs.

Wait until we begin hearing of the KGB errr, FBI visiting the homes of dissidents like Gary and me.

I don't particularly like hearing so much GLOOM, but I know, what else is there. Five Dealers in New Mexico are closing, more groom. However Melloy Dodge, where I purchased my 05 is not on the list. I'm happy about that. Maybe something good will come out of all this.

On a more positive side my stock portfolio has gotten much better the last two months. I hope that's a sign that the stock market has bottomed out and we're on the road to an economic recovery.

I would agree about Doug Graft After all the city slickers it was DC's last chance for a sale (other brands out there). He got it

Does his mother still do the books?

Now back to the wisdom side of this DC never addressed any of my issues/problems.

Then @ 5th day delayed delivery discovered 1 mirror gone, then before 100 miles BOTH $600 mirrors had simply fell out.

It cost me 150> miles 8 hours and 3 weeks to get the second replaced. His service was like it was another division ,as they were just as bad as the city schmucks blaming me and the run around for a design flaw in a $20 mirror.

So with the Gov't continued infinate wisdom they keep all the overpriced under/incompetent staffed dealers.

that charge $80h and 3 hours to change a belt.

Maybe they can build the UNVagen

Not sure about his mother. I know she used to be around there all the time.

On this last truck I purchased from him, he called me at 9:30 on a Sunday evening when he finally got everything worked out and knew he could get the exact truck I wanted. Tell me where I'm going to find another owner/salesperson ready to go to those kind of lengths to make a customer happy.

None of us enjoy bad news - either hearing about it, or handing it out - handing it out also manages to carry with it the reality of being a "Doomsday Crier" - usually easier to simply shoot the messenger than to face potential reality...

More of the same?

More auto cuts: GM will eliminate 1,100 US dealers - Yahoo! Finance

"Reality" is, that our situation goes WAY beyond the ability that many of us will no longer enjoy local warranty and other service for our vehicles, and will steadily increasingly affect nearly EVERY aspect of our daily functions and lifestyles - MOST of which are already vanishing, and will NEVER return to what they once were!

(any readers here recall how I was accused of spreading false doom and gloom in an earlier related thread where it was asked whether it was a good idea to consider buying a new Dodge, in view of the then-current condition of the company, and my own reply was that it was NOT a gamble *I* was willing to take ? ;) )

Like it or not, ADMIT it or not, the former USA many of us grew up in, loved and honored, is G-O-N-E, not just in the vehicles we drive - or where we can bank or obtain home financing - but soon to be felt by many in a widening circle of changes in price and availability of things like food, clothing - and MANY things we traditionally have had easy access to - many of those will be limited, controlled, and priced at premiums unimaginable even at today's reality.

Energy prices are already there and moving higher - food prices are starting the climb - and water, power, and ease of economical travel on a free and open street and highway system is just down the road a bit in terms of control, tolls and close observation by those who will wrap it all up in the neat wrapper of "public safety", "energy conservation" - and similar malarkey - anyone here old enough to remember the highly visible public signs asking "Is this trip REALLY necessary"? You ain't seen NOTHING yet, when the time comes "they" will be TELLING you whether or not your travel is necessary - or even ALLOWED!

"Carbon Tax", and "Cap and Trade", are words you had better get well educated on - they ARE coming - and will change our world and lifestyles dramatically!

Yup, more handwriting on the wall, from a diehard "Doomdayer"... ;)

A quick local example - and YES, this IS related to the thread topic, because ALL this stuff is being generated from the SAME shadowy non-partisan source...

This area of eastern Oregon - John Day area - was established due to gold strikes in 1862. When the gold ran out, locals who stayed, got involved and established in the logging and lumber industry - then, in recent years, Environmentalists shot down that industry thru various legal maneuverings. THEN, the locals switched to ranching and beef cattle - largely run on BLM grazing allotments - a practice of long standing that has been the mainstay supporting the ranchers in keeping beef production profitable.

BUT, now those BLM allotments are being challenged in US courts, and removed from availability by - you guessed it - the SAME environmentalists! Already, many larger ranchers have seen from past history, the handwriting on the wall, and have their large ranches up for sale. End result? Less beef available for the public - and higher prices for what IS available!

And this is only the start...

If you peel away the thin veneer of false love for the environment and nature you find that environmental wackos and global warming wackos are simply anti-capitalist and anti-business liberals whose driving philosophy is resentment of those who are smarter and/or work harder and become more successful.

They are advocates of big government because they want government to provide equal lifestyles for everyone . . . except themselves. They see themselves as smarter and better and want to be part of the government funded and government protected elite.

Liberalism will be the destruction of America.

Read "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. The parallels are downright frightening.

I hate to see Wayne Williams Dodge in Crockett TX is on that list. He ran it his self. He always had a good stock of diesel in stock. Good hands to work on them. He will be missed.

I agree with Blackbear, it seems many of the smaller common sense dealerships are being closed and more of the high pressure, high volume dealerships will remain here service is a profit center rather than customer care,

there are certainly some good dealerships left but the move is towards mega-dealerships, remember, this is only the first dealership cut

maybe someday we can buy our trucks at the USD Post Office while we pickup stamps, remember we now have a government guaranteed warranty!!

Well, in my State, UTAH, there were 10 dealerships on the list! Seems they (Chrysler) never really looked at the sales of the Dealerships. One of the Dealerships that was on the list is the OLDEST Dodge Dealership in the World! Still in the same family! They are really bombed out!

Here located right beside "Interstate 85" in East Central Alabama,

Exit 62 Ken Boggs dealer- Open, Dodge, Chrysler, Ford

Exit 62 GLenn Smith-Closed- Jeep dealer, Chevy.

Exit 77 King-Open-Dodge Chrysler, and every thing American except caddy & GMC.

I kind of suprises me that out of two dealers 15 miles apart, both get to stay open.

This is/was John Thomas Dodge in Cordell, Okla. Shame that he's having to close as they had smokin prices on diesel service and better than average prices on parts. Put several people out of work in an already economically depressed area (due to oilfield going away).

He lined up these trucks and put one letter on each windshield to spell OBAMA MOTORS.

Sorry for the angle but I couldn't get back far enough straight across from them to get them all in the picture.

Do you happen to have a link to the website or email for that dealer?

Do a simple internet search - it pops right up...

I'm not at home, and the the firewall/internet security on the network I am on right now, seems to be blocking standard search engines like google, yahoo, etc. It's not allowing it to go through for me at the moment.
