Chrysler dealers told to shape up

DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group is poised to increase its U. S. market share a full point to 14 percent in coming years, but will need a stronger, smaller dealer network to effectively compete against foreign rivals. "We need a distribution system that is world-class, and we do not have that now," Chrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche said Wednesday in a presentation to automotive analysts in Dearborn.

 No kidding, dealer network not world class :--) I never would have guessed from my dealer expieriences

Jared

World Class? What exactly does that mean, some quantifiable method of measuring  Is it like ASTM, Baldwin, J. D. Powers, that is defined by some organization?

Does it have different meanings in different parts of the world; i. e 110v/60hz vs. 220v/50hz. ? Which is world class?

Is world class another marketing tool/phrase/term that will be overused until it has no meaning like 5 STAR :p

Who defines world class, Chrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche

If something leaves the boundries of the world like a space rocket, is it no longer world class, but now Solar system class, and if then on beyond the Solar System, does it then become Universe Class????

It sounds to me like the emphasis will be on selling, not servicing vehicles. It's about a distribution system and market share, not making us happy.
