I'm referring to the products available here.

My 3/36 warranty expires in May 2013. I've already had to do ball joints (<25K).

Does anyone have any experience with these warranties? I know some guys have a problem with their dealers. I don't, so let's leave the dealers out of this discussion. I'm interested in coverage and value opinions.

Thanks all.

I've never purchased an extended warranty on anything and never regretted the decisions I've made.

Having said that, I will, however, probably purchase a four year extension of the warranty on my Honda Goldwing about eleven months from now when the original 36 month unlimited mile Honda warranty expires. I can purchase a 48 month Honda extended warranty from a dealer who provides the Honda rider's website for $450 when that dealer is running one of their frequent 10% off sales. If not on sale it's $495. For that price and the miles I've been putting on it I think $450 is a good price to pay for the protection it'll provide.

Often you need to check the extended warranty box w/in a month of purchase... .

I opted for Ext Warranty on my '11 Ram; I decided to do this in large part to all of the gagets on newer vehicle not so much for the driveline. BTW I also opted for Ext Warranty on my 2008 Mazda CX-9... . they just put the THIRD Transfer Case AND Transmission in that car.

I've had good luck with Chryslers warranties. I also opted for the extended warranty to cover potential failures of the computerized crap on board.

This is my second Dodge diesel purchased new with the extended warranty. I have a 7 year 100K warranty (100. 00 deductible) that covers almost everything for $1,500. 00. The first truck I had all four ball joints replaced, the leaking injector pump replaced and the anti lock module (replaced). So that one paid for itself. This second truck has 48K and has never been back to the dealer for a problem, yet. No problems at all with the dealer or warranty issues. It's a nice peace of mind.

You left out the "m", but I think you meant the "Wall Street Casino"- heads I win, tails you lose.

I purchased the extended warranty of my '95, but anything that broke wouldn't have been covered, or broke after the coverage ended. I didn't purchase one for my signature truck and am way ahead on that deal, primarily because it's a much better truck than the '95 ever was. When I had my IH rollback, I purchased a 7-year 50,000 mile extended warranty on the engine, engine electronics, and Allison transmission. For just over $1000, it was a no brainer. I didn't need it, but it saved the next owner's bacon several times. I purchased the extended warranty on a GE hybrid water heater that I bought at Lowe's, and it refunded the purchase price when it suffered a leaky evaporator when less that two years old, and Lowe's couldn't find anyone to fix it, or even come to look at it for that matter. Kubota offered an extended warranty on my GR2110 when I had it, but it was like $1100 IIRC. What could possibly go wrong with a lawn tractor to justify that expense? I didn't wait around to find out- sold it last spring and kept my 22 year-old Gravely.
