Keeps out the Riff-raff

We had four Italian Iveco tiltcabs at work. POS smoke belching rigs that had the worst brakes imaginable. Our right legs looked like soccer players.

I'll repeat it for new readers, but the best story I had with mine was one day the parking brake valve did not dump the air on the parking brake spring chambers. One of my employees starts it up, puts is in drive, and off he goes across the yard to find the truck has no brakes. I can imagine that happening at a customer's house where it could have encountered a Mercedes, a Roller, or even a Ferrari. I couldn't repair the valve, had to replace it. It was over $450 just for the valve.

I can't help but think back to all the "panic" that happened when Daimler took over Chrysler. There was lots of talk about the Cummins being dropped and an MB engine going in. And some people still think Ford owns Cummins. Rumours fly all the time. "IF" Fiat did drop the Cummins someone else would pick it up FAST because it has such a good track record. How many of you drive a Cummins ( that just happens to be in a Dodge )? You can still buy parts for an 89 5.9 at the local Cummins Dist. David

Well. I guess I'm the exception. I've never titled anything but a Chrysler product. Not since 1985 when I started driving. Having a Cummins under the hood was cream on the cake. Now I feel like a Packard owner. To me, Chrysler is ALMOST dead. Once all the pentastars are gone from all the parts on a RAM, I will have a funeral.

1. How 'bout Marchionne's health? I vaguely seem to remember some problems a year or 3 ago. He is such a dynamic charismatic leader that sometimes it is hard to have other people like this in the leadership circle. Do any of you remember Phil Bengtson following Vince Lombardi at Green Bay? I can't see the Fiat Conglomerate staying together after he dies/leaves. 2. I rode a church bus with an Iveco engine in it 250 miles one night. The engine was right between the driver and me. No power, a lot of noise, and high rpm. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate it a 1. And only that good because we got back! Mark
