Pretty amazing that Chrysler posted a small gain but Ford and GM posted 19 and 16% losses in sales with Toyota poised to take over #2.

yup and it's not the fact that they've been selling junk ...

it's because of the unfair advantage foriegn competition has ...

not gm's multi billion dollar fiasco purchasing a worthless european car brand

That has got to be the worst news for GM because there adds that are all over the media (I am tired of the propaganda) must have cost them billions.

I believe the best truck for this decade, up to 2020 will be the Dodge Cummins 6. 7, after the Ford disaster 6. 0 and soon to be a flawed 6. 4 Power Joke and the D/A with the HP but poor engine choice and outdated as well with the new EPA regs.

I can imagine the workmanship on the the other two makes are going to fall rapidly trying to keep the good employees and laying off other personnel that support them. The attitudes are going to effect productions and cause more strikes bankrupting GM. Ford will lose there hold on the light duty truck market (yes our trucks are LD) and propelling D/C as the best choice.

I rarely make predictions but when I do they come true.

I believe in giving credit where credit is due. Toyota may be taking over the number one spot because they build good and reliable vehicles. No other reason. I don't want to see Ford in mega trouble and GM struggling. I want to see them build better vehicles. Chrysler is building a better vehicle and they have better engines and that's the reason they are showing some profit.

Toyota will never be able to build a 3/4 or 1 ton truck and have the same durability and towing torque and when they attempt it, it will have on paper the ability but struggle with the max load.

1) What engine would they use? A Izusu Diesel, oh that is already in a GM

2) The price would be prohibitive as they are already over priced.

3) How about Honda's truck line, or what they claim is a truck.

4) Ford and GM wont go away, just be #2 (Ford) & #3 (GM)

I'm not trashing Toyota alone. In fact I just bought a Toyota Yaris because they build a great small car and I own a Toyota Tacoma because they build a great small truck. The 1/2 ton Tundra 2X2 is not as good as they think and the truck costs more than a 3/4 ton 4X4 Dodge with a Hemi. The point is the japanese build good small vehichle's and is the reason they are doing so well, but it will take more than a decade to pass by our trucks on brute torque and awesome power that our HD trucks can produce and feel confident at the same time.

I agree with you. My wife and I have a 2003 Toyota Avalon and a 2003 Camry. They are great cars, however they don't make anything in the same class with our Dodge/Cummins. They were supposed to have gotten into the big truck market, but chickened out due to the the high fuel prices. Our trucks are the best there is. I totally believe that.

sorry computer is down ...

i was being sarcastic ...

ford and chevy have been selling overpriced junk in my opinion ... and when they start loosing profits it's because of insurance, cheaper foriegn parts and labor ... etc

it's never because of a poor product or poor business decisions
