Chrysler Puts Hold On G-56 Equipped Deliveries

Hal a lou ya! Let's just say it don't look good folks. Glad I ran down and picked off a 3500 NV5600 5 weeks ago. This is precisely what I was wanting to avoid in any new transmission. . I really like the truck I got. If I wanted a Mustang I would have bought a Mustang. Mine is a TRUCK transmission and I am fine with that.



I was really starting to wonder why we weren't seeing more reviews of the new unit. Guess that answers that question. Good luck yall.

First, DC decides to use a sub-standard trans. The biggest engine I found with the G-56 is a MB 4 cylinder at 177HP and like 395ft/lbs of torque. Now the clutch and other parts are starting to fail right out of the gate. There was an easy solution and use the G-85. Now, that's a transmission! Geared correctly, rated at 660ft/lbs continuos input and designed to last for 400K miles. Not even under load and these G-56s are failing. If you guys ever wonder why Toyota, Honda ect. will dominate in sales years to come, just keep reading!

That will be interesting for sure, just think about all those tossed out CAT's.

i'm placing my money on Dodge going with a MB diesel engine and getting rid of the cummins in 2007 with new emissions. If they keep the cummins it will be so loaded with emissions devices and run hotter and time to overhaul will be low. Face it, after 2007, the diesel truck market will suck. All those older dodge diesel trucks will be hot commodities.



From day one I agreed that replacing the nv5600 with the g56 was a mistake and now I feel better seeing how worthless it is before it is even driven



sure toyota might have a popular diesel truck but most people that buy diesels are you typical white family and most stay with the big 3 american companies. i already have seen the honda ridgeline truck and it is a compliated mess and cheap yuppie looking. many that dont know the advantage of our engine (cummins) go with ford or chevy b/c dodge seems to have that ugly stepchild reputation...

just saw a honda truck today. looks kinda like a mini avalanch-stupid and yes, yuppie is a go discription. unfortunatly unlike dodge, honda and toyota know how to improve and engineer vehicals. i would never play the ginnea pig on a new trans or any other part for that matter. tried and true is the way to go. damn ford guys out here are gonna love this.

My thoughts EXACTLY ... I will be puting $$$ into a new paint job (fix the rust and stuff) on my old '97. And then maybe before the end of the year have the P7100 pump maintained/bench tested and reconditioned.

2007 was the year I was thinking of a new truck ... but only in a 5500 size (hoping Dodge would make one). I too will NEVER drive an automatic.



I just don't see that since Dodge went outside for a best-in-class engine, why not do the same for the rest of the drivetrain and go a full Road Ranger setup with a 7 or 9 speed Eaton and just drop a Dodge shell on top.

Hope this gets ironed out. What a stinker. Some bean counter up at DC needs his a** kicked. No matter how bad this looks right now though, it still doesn't make the Fords any more reliable with that over-engineered 6. 0 dud. Hang in there guys!

It is sad that you cannot go out and buy a new product because the truck stinks... Sure we would all love to have something brand spankin new and clean and comfy but will all the BS on the 3rd gen and the future problems i see, it aint worth it



Why can't ford put a cat or cummins in there :-( If that was the case, they would be the #1 truck on the market



I would prob rather have the 48RE over the g56 too. I just laugh since right when it was announced that the g56 would replace the 5600, i cried and complained and got crap for it. Seems like I was right after all

Sorry but I wouldn't take a 2nd gen truck if you gave it to me. I wouldn't even consider a Dodge if not for the 3rd gen trucks.

It was in jest. I'm not really considering selling my 2nd generation truck (which, by the way, isn't affected by launch shudder, 70 MPH vibration, CP3 failures, leaking injectors, etc. etc. ) and is still on its original lift pump (16+ PSIG @ idle, 11 PSIG @ WOT) and VP-44. Enjoy your 3rd gen.
