Thank Daimler for that one.

They've been demanding lower costs -- and associated cheapening -- from their suppliers. I'm sure that little switch-a-roo "saved" thousands of dollars over a million units.

Anyone know where I can get a Calvin "p' on Daimler" decal. Prefferably with a Ram p'ing on a Mercedes emblem. If I don't find one soon I'll have them stamped out you'all can send me a self addressed stamped envelope plus cost and I'll mail them out. I don't believe in those "p' on" stickers in general, but for Daimler I'm lowering my standards too.

MAK , put me on the list for one of those ... as far as that happening in a bunch of trannies , i think it was definitely a screw up , my 2000 had the 3. 8 , but its got a 4. 2 now #ad

Ok, I'm not a transmission guru or anything, so somebody please explain the signifigance of those two parts. What are they, why is the 3. 8 and 2. 5 important, etc. ?

Thanks,
Mike

P. S. I know the picture says "band lever", but I'm kinda slow... #ad
What is a band lever and what does it do. Do I need to be concerned about this part maybe being in my transmission?

mikel , yes you need to be concerned , that is the lever that applies the forward band , the number is its ratio , the higher the number the faster the band applies . the 2. 5 is not speced in the cummins trans , so a 2,5 would cause the band to apply slower causing it to slip more before full application .

next time you have the pan down look at the lever , the 3. 8 has 2 raised bars on it .

Thanks for the reply! Is this the piece that holds one end of the band strut that has to be replaced when installing a DTT VB? If so then I am 90% sure I remember seeing two bars on it when I replaced my VB, but I'll have the pan down this weekend so I'll check again if that is the correct part.

Thanks again,
Mike

you're right BV , they do look like extractors on mupac boards #ad

mikel , the part you replaced goes between that lever pictured above and the band , with the pan off you will be able to see the bands ,
