How long has the Duramax 590 been available? Well it's not been out of the bag as long as the Dodge 600 and I've heard 10 commercials for the Durapuke with 590 torque and can honestly say I have not heard even ONE commercial for the Ram 600... . How's anyone going to know Dodge is on top?

It amazes me with the legacy of Clessie and Cummins that Dodge does not promote that. Cummins is the best and Dodge is the best, so why not promote that? I don't understand. When DC introduced the PT Cruiser, at least in WV area, people were paying 6 - 8K above sticker to get them. Demand exceeded supply. While I don't want to see that for our trucks, I sure would like to see more promotion.

Makes you wonder about how "warm" the relationship is between DC and Cummins.

I gotta go with Klenger on this one - why spend money to increase sales of something you are selling near capacity already? I think word of mouth (and a FEW commercials here and there) is selling plenty of Cummins Dodges. Now, if they were to increase capacity in order to increase market share even more, then I'd expect to see a few national commercials!

Just saw a commercial for a new dodge last night... There was some construction workers standing around and their boss rolls up in a 3500 and it was so quite that the guy making fun of the boss didn't hear him. Nothin that cool :( I heard an 2004. 5 dodge and it sounded a lot quieter then my 03...

Advertising dollars are generally used to sell those products that aren't selling. If Dodge has finite assembly capacity for the HD trucks and Cummins has finite engine capacity for the 325/600 and both are being reached, why advertise to sell more when you're struggling to meet current demand? You push the slow sellers.

Dodge won't put good money where it isn't needed. The latest figures show Ford and Chevy sales down, Dodge sales are up what was it 19%. That's really good for Dodge, but when market share drops, there will be commercials galore. What doesn't sell, advertise.

I truly believe Dodge has the better product. Best engine, good design, nice tight fit. Dodge has been doing something right.

I've got Diesel Fever really bad since I have sold my '02 CTD ETH/DEE. Everytime I pull up to a diesel at a stop light, I roll down my window to listen and hopefully get some exhaust. I am just counting the day when I can spend, spend, spend and get a CTD.

Ford and Chevy can advertise all they want. There are some true diesel die-hards that will test drive the three major brands and walk away scratching their heads wondering if they could justify their friends mockery if they purchase with their heads and not through peer pressure.

Dodge is my favorite. I will purchase the Cummins with the Dodge Ram shell.

I am also not sure why there is so little advertising. I haven't seen any Cummins 600 ad (maybe I'm not watching the right programs) but have seen the new Duramax and PSD commercials. I would think DC would definitely want to let people, especially those in the 5 SO states, know about the newly available, most powerful engine available in a pickup truck. Now, I understand about maybe demand has already outstripped supply but I doubt it. The way I see it, the Ram is DC's number 1 vehicle, the number 3 vehicle of all autos sold last year. The money needs to be applied to it first. That goes for everything from advertising to R&D. The number 1 rule of business is "Advertise. "

Actually, last month Dodge Ram sales was up only 1%, far below that of Ford and GM. Regarding last year's total sales, Dodge was up 13. 9%, which was better than F-series and Silverado/Sierra. So, even with fewer configurations and a 45-state HO diesel, they still did very well. I know it sounds like I'm contradicting my previous statement above, but I like to think how much better they could do, if they just do it right.

I have seen a few commercials for the 600. They were all during the NHL All Star game and skills competition. I guess that since Dodge is a major sponsor of the NHL they advertised there. It doesn't bother me since I am a hockey freak and am always watching the games.

A friend of a friend told me to hold on to your hat. DC is a master at this game. There is somethingbig brewing and it is'nt always in ones own huose. Timing is everything even at someone elses exspense. Beware of the three- way blitzkreig. Competitor on their knees, manufacturing poised for consistant supply with capacity increases within conrol and "DISCRESION", wich would allow for control of supply and demand !!!! (as mentioned before,PT CRUISER) Great way to tap a good revinue stream with new customers and particulary good if existing market customers jump ship and buy into this product line. Could even be a 4 or five way win , if careful timing is employed . at everyone elsles expense. I don,t know if trading my 03 for a seriously discounted 04 will work. They are trickling away fast ! Having to wait for an possible 05 market rush with a PT Cruiser factor involed could make things bad for US. (money wise and order time) It might be the 06 model year before good deals come again. Just a hunch, but if diesel fuel pricing stabilizes downward in relation to gasoline and the economy trends upward as projected... ... . HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT.

I don't understand why they don't promote the fuel mileage of these trucks too. I'm gettin' 20 mpg with less than 1500 miles on the truck------and that ain't putt-puttin' either. How many avg joes know these trucks can top 20 easy?

They're going to know Dodge is on top by looking at your tailgate after you blow their doors off. Who really cares whether they advertise or not. I personally enjoy driving a truck that not every Tom, Dick and Harry has or wants. I know it was a great feeling to have a 6. 0 Powerstroke coming on strong the other day as I was driving down the highway. He made it about halfway to the front of my bed before the ole Cummins made short work of his attack and left him staring at the taillights.
