Chrysler Service Contract offer

Chrysler Service Contracts (630) 231-3464 has just contacted me with an offer for a genuine Chrysler service contract. They are offering $207 off of their everyday prices which are much lower than dealerships. My truck is an '07 4x4 CTD w/16,649 miles on it(I really rack up the miles). A seven year/60,000 mile Maxcare warranty w/$50 deductable is offered for $1458. including discount. All rates are discounted with this promo code:77333. I've got a mild Lorenz lift on the truck and have serviced the axles on schedule along w/the fuel filter and oil change intervals. My only proof of this is my notations in the owners book. I don't know if Dodge will hold the lift and notations against me in the event of a claim. My other concern is future viability of Dodge itself. Your opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

No problem. My post kind of indicates my leeriness. I do know that repairs are high,but my lack of documentation would enter into it. The only in I had around here as far as dealerships went was purged by Dodge recently.

Invest that money into something tangible that Obama cant get his hands on... . Im with Harvey and Bill on this one. I have 19,200 miles on mine... very leery indeed as to all these high pressure sales efforts for all these ESP's etc. Notice how they have picked up in quantity since GM and Chrysler are foundering on the brink? No accident there... capitalizing on the fear of losing warranty coverage by manufacturer? Just my 2 cents.

In 2001 when I bought my 39,000 miles, ’95 Continental I ordered a factory shop manual. The day it came I sat with my wife watching TV and scanning through the manual. After about an hour I put it down and my wife said, “Did you learn anything?” I said, “I think I learned that this thing has a lot of stuff I know nothing about so I’d better buy an extended warranty. ” I’d already been on Edmonds.com and had found a warranty that would take me to 90K.



I bought it for about $1,600. 00 an felt pretty good about it until I read all the fine print and read some web sites that talked real world experience. Their lawyers had done a masterful job placing loopholes all over the contract. I do all my own minor maintenance and service (oil & filter changes, inspections, some brake work, etc. ) and keep a journal of all that stuff. I also do a fair job keeping the receipts for all the oil, parts, etc. but as I read through the contract I had serious doubts that they’d ever pay off if something major happened. Fortunately for me, I’ve never had anything major (now have 113K on it). The stuff that has gone wrong –radiator, O2 sensors – would not have been covered by the warranty. Bottom line—I wish I had my $1,600. 00 back!:{



If it was me, I’d put the money aside in a rainy-day fund and forget the contract.

Service contract (extended warranty, service plan, whateve you want to call it) i ssimply buying insurance beyond the manufacturer's warranty, even if the service contract is from Chrysler it is a completely different group and coverage than the warranty group. Since it' just insurance it can and will go either way. On my old '99 Dakota I made out like a bandit on the 100k gold service contract. My transmission (NV3500) roasted at 45k mi. (original warranty was 3/36) even took out the clutch with it, transmission was replaced, they even covered the clutch (that was a fun argument), cost me $50. At 98k on the clock the ball joints and a tie-rod end were roasted, covered cost me $50. Had all that been done at my cost I would have racked up a nice $4k or so repair bill in 4 years. So, just like any insurance you win some you lose some. I know I've paid WAY more money in premiums for my auto insurance than I've gotten out of them.

I was wondering about that. I quickly throw the warranty/service contract junk mail I receive in the trash but just a quick glance suggests it is dealer/aftermarket crap not a genuine service contract from Chrysler.

I wouldn't buy either but I smelled scam in some of the junk mail I received.

Like several above suggested, put the "possible repairs" money away in a safe place. If you need it, you'll have it. If not, spend it on a short vacation trip or your kids college fund or whatever.

I live in WA and haven't seen any of their ads, but while I was visiting family in Louisiana last week their TV ads were relentless. Scammers seem to be running free these days, name any product or service and you can be sure someone is selling a worthless version.

ANY insurance I buy is to protect me against a loss I don't think I can afford. No vehicle warranties fit that definition for me.

My '08 has 53k in 14 months and I don't want a maintenance/repair insurance policy under any name. Didn't want one on my two previous high mileage Rams either.

I buy good products, maintain them properly, don't modify or abuse them, and have confidence they'll be reliable. So far, they have been. I would have lost a fortune if I had purchased extended warranty/service contracts.

I retired on 6-16-09 which lasted twelve hrs. as the place where I worked asked me to stay on part time. After 8-07-09 I'm going to take two months off and see some country. I drove a ricer around town until my wife totalled it. :{
