yep I have been running schaffers 7000 series for 15 years in all of are farm equipment truck and pickups and been great oil. I have 2 tractors with over 12k hr on them and never been opened up. Pick a oil you like and go for it.

Would I run amsoil no I know people that have used it and seen what it does.

Guys on here will tell you how much better amsoil is but it's just a lot of hot air talking. when it comes right down to it all are about the same oil. Just some cost a lot more than others

What I have been doing the last couple of oil changes with the new Shell Rotella T, been adding one bottle (1/2 quart) of Red STP in the mix. To get back the ZDDP, anti-wear additives.

I have been using rotella 15 w 40 since new. Now have 454,000kms. Oil changes at 5000 k. Doesnt use any oil between changes.

I e- mailed Shell re the availability of rotella in ci4 plus. Their answer was no. However they suggested their Rimula 15w40 which is ci-4 plus . Their spec sheet says - heavey duty diesel engines

turbo and non turbo engines

on and off highway engines

Extended oil drain capability approved

excellent dispersancy

outstanding soot control

superior deposit control and corrosion control

TBN 9. 7

Sounds like it could be a good replacement for the older oil.

The cost here in Canada is 45. 61 for 4 -4 liter jugs.

Rotella T 15w 40 is 49. 69 for the same quanity.

Rotella sy. 5w40 95. 40 for same amount.

FYI, I found some Pennzoil Long Life(1st time I have seen it) at the local wally world... . CJ-4 now. Did not see mention of its CJ-4 rating on Pennzoil site, but its product sheet is from 2004.

Hey guys; I'm burnin Mopar prem 15-40 CI-4+, and I had a virgin sample tested, and it appears to be pretty good stuff.
Part #'s for the CI-4+ are as follows:
Gals, 04798232 AE (4 gals per box)
Qts, 04798231 AD (12 qts per box)
My dealer parts guy gives me a discount on it when I buy it, and according to my oil analysis, has held up very well with "robust" TBN remaining.
M.

The testing done by the TDR is no more than an oil analysis, which will show "wear Metals", Physical Properties such as Viscosity, Contaminants such as water, fuel, soot, dirt. and (TBN) total base number.

(reserve alkalinity)

Wayne

Aint that what's important?

Pretty sure Mopars stuff is repackaged ValvolinePremiumBlue, which is a very good oil. Just that they probably will change it to cj in the future.

Well, right now I got 16 gallons of the CI4+ stuff. Well, will be ready for me to pick up tuesday! If it is the new CJ then I will refuse delivery of it! ( Not that I mind CJ, just I can get it cheaper elsewhere if I have to use it!)

Yes sir, it is important if your doing a used oil analysis. (primarily for extended drains) However, testing oils for performance are based on many (ASTM American Society for Testing and Materials) tests such as:

Viscosity Index (ASTM D-2270)

Cold Crank Apparent Viscosity (ASTM D-5293)

Borderline Pumping Temperature (ASTM D-3829)

Pour Point (ASTM D-97)

Flash Point and Fire Point (ASTM D-92)

High Temp, High shear Viscosity (ASTM D-4683)

Foaming Tendancy (ASTM D-892)

Four Ball Wear Test (ASTM D-4172 B)

Volatility (ASTM D-5800)

These kinds of tests will show how good an oil will perform along with "actual" FIELD testing!

Now to run these kinds of tests require A LOT of MONEY, and if the TDR did these tests on ALL the oils they are comparing, they would increase our membership fee's!:{

Well Wayne, as I've pointed out before, I can get far better per/mile performance out of my Shell Rotella than you can offer from all of your ASTM specs. <-thats a period!

That's why they make different oils!! EVERYBODY has choices.

Respecfully,
