I'll be changing oil on my signature truck soon. The last time I changed the oil, I was able to find Delo 15W 40 CI. I can't find CI oil anymore. Is it okay to use CJ?

When I purchased my truck, the dealer through in free oil changes for 7 years, 2 changes per year. The dealer used CJ. I don't know the brand. My truck has only had CI for one year. Just how bad is CJ? I know it doesn't have zinc.

What's your favorite brand of oil. I prefer not to use synthetic.

I've used Mobil Delvac 1300 Super for the last dozen years or so in my current and former trucks without issue. I don't extend intervals but I do send a sample in once a year or so just to check what is going on. They always come back fine.

I think Napa has Mobil Delvac on sale this month, $11. 99. I am not brand loyal, I buy whats on sale.

Is the Mobile Delvac oil you use CI or CJ oil? Does it really matter? It also sounds like it may be synthetic.

Before the Mobil, I used Rotella T in my former 1st gen and '85 Chevy. Many of my friends here continue to use it. I only moved away from it because the Mobil was easier to find here. I don't have anything against synthetics, in fact I use them in my gas powered vehicles, but just never got in to it with the diesels.

The CJ04 Oil is backward compatible, and it still has some "ZINK", but is limited as to how much. There are many Companies still producing a CI-4+ oil. AMSOIL Inc. . is one of those that still make it in a 15W-40 Grade.

SEND ME YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS, AND i WILL GIVE YOU A PRICE. WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE PRICING ON THIS BOARD.

THANKS

delo ci-4+ oil is available everywhere. go to the chevron distributor ast for a 5 gallon pale of 15w-40 delo 400 non LE. the cj-4 oil has the LE in the labeling. also available in 55 gallon drums. not available in gallons.

The Chevron Distributer in Albuquerque doesn't have CI-4 anymore. They did have it at my last oil change. They only have CJ-4 now.

I did purchased Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15W 40, CI-4 at one of our NAPA stores yesterday.

Grizzly, I have a lot of CI4+ stockpiled and won't need it all since I have the new Ram disease :)

I can sell you some of it; it is all 15-40 Delo from Brewer's in Abq.
