Cigarette lighter and Ashtray? Why?

It's 2008. Do I realy need to be paying for a cig lighter and ash tray in my truck? I would like to use the ash tray space for switches, but no, someone might want to ruin a perfectly good interior by stinking it all up. Nasty. Well, that is to say those smokers who aren't so rude as to throw their cigarettes out their window at other drivers on the road and contribute to the millions (billions?) of cig butts smokers feel they can just throw whereever they want. What's with that?



If it weren't for cigarette lighters, couldn't the power outlet be a standard plug? Seems like it. Then I wouldn't need two chargers and adaptors for everything I want to use.



Imagine how much cheaper vehicles could be built today if it wasn't for all the garbage that the government requires manufactures to put on vehicles, or if the manufactures would stop putting junk on vehicles they think we want, when we really don't. Think DPF's, Cat's, Backup alarms, and requireing us to buy many thousand dollar option packages when we really just want to frickin sunroof or the nicer rims or whatever...

I don't know about cig-butts, however, the hot lighter holds a cube of Lebanese blond perfectly and if its packed in just so, allows the holder to snort that heavenly haze with one hand while the other is on the wheel. To heck with rims. . I wish Mopar had a roach-clip option for the rear-view mirror.

You're not being fair and considerate to those that do smoke. I'm sure you are not paying more then a couple of bucks for that cheap cigar lighter and if the ashtray wasn't there, they would put something else in it's place, like a storage tray. Not all cars have a cigar lighter and ashtray. My wife's 03 Camry doesn't. The car manufactures do a market study and decide who the smoker are and equipped them accordingly. If you don't like it, take the lighter and throw it away and use the ashtray for toll change or whatever you want. That's what I do, I'm not a smoker either.

I found the ash tray perfect for holding all my keys... wouldnt know what to do if I had them mixed in and bouncing around with all the other junk that floats around in the center console.

I really envy you.

This country is fighting two wars and what's really bugging you is a your truck being equipped with a lighter/ashtray and second hand smoke.

You seem to assume that every smoker flicks their "butt" out the window. Why don't you find another battle to fight? Try something simple, like say "getting a life" on E-bay or something. As for my 2nd hand smoke, I'm sure it's just waiting for you to drive by and have it sucked in you window. The day a ciger lighter is not in a vehicle I own, is the day I stop buying a new vehicle.

Its not the smoke I'm saying goes out the windows of smokers, its the nasty butts they flick out regardless of other vehicles around them. A spare ashtray? Man, you must blow more smoke than a Flowerstroke.
