ooh ooh tell me, tell me, i want to know about the removal trick, been wondering what the easiest way to do this is????? Do you use a heat gun. . ?????

------------------
2001 ETH DEE 4X4 QC LB On order, supposedly built 2-23-01, we'll see when she gets here

little bit of heat from the gun (be careful not to warp 'em they get soft quick and the "chrome wrinkles") When they are hot grab some fishing line and start behind the badge and using a "sawing" action pulltwards you paralell with the truck. A little residue will be left over but a little goo gone and ... ... . the rest is history

Toolman, way cool !!!! Would I need the front lift kit to keep 'em from rubbing ? I also have a 2001. 5 3500 4X4.

3m Scotchmount Trim and moulding adhesive (double coated acrylic foam tape ehite . 045 inches thick) that way they will not stand up higher on the paint or mounting surface. 3M Prepsol or 91% isopropl alcohol to prep the surface. (Rum and Coke for yourself if you like). I said the same catch phrase myself as i was posting (Badges ..... We don't need no stinking badges) L O L P. S I have (2) big cummins C logos left (2) Medium both for sale.
Saint , I would level the truck first. potholes and bumps while turning they might dig into a fender. 275. 00 is well worth it.

Doh! sorry mick I thought I covered the bases with the unknown thanks to all, sorry 'bout that.
B. T. W Your Power Window Mod... . what terminal or part inside the relay did you tag onto? Best thing?, since sharp edges on knives.

Tim,

I soldered the wire to the 'switched' side of the circuit breaker.
That way there is no feedback problem.

Mick
Nice Truck btw...

It's not a dually, but I ran 255/85R16s on aftermarket 16x8s on my 2500 for a few weeks before leveling the front end. I didn't have any problems rubbing, if anything the aftermarket wheels would have made it worse since they stick out further. However a narrower rim will make the tire slightly taller. I lifted the front with 2-1/2" coil spacers purely for looks, I'm now looking for 6" blocks to bring up the rear 1-1/4" as well.

I've also seen a few duallys with 255/85s on the rear and 285/75s on the front (they are the same height), looks pretty good (kind of like a cement truck), except they can't be rotated front to back.

Pete the only prob with the 285/75s on the front of a 4X4 will throw a u joint south once 4 wheel drive is engaged (kind of like having the same effect as 3:73's in the front and 4:10's in the rear) Concrete mixer trux actually use two different ratios to compensate for tire diameter (though ring and pinion are set up wit slop to compensate for tire wear) Found that one out on a pumper truck when I asked if it was a 6x6 and how could it work with 2 different size tires.

As long as the front and rear tires are the same height (such as a 285/75 and a 255/85), you won't have a problem, the section width doesn't matter.

Also, a sloppy ring and pinion will still turn at the same speed as a properly set up one, it will just have more backlash.

Pete
