I just installed my CIPA's Pwr/Heat and used them tucked and extended, these mirrors displayed less vibration than my stock small power/heated ones on my 02. My only complaint is when tucked, the bottom of the inside of the P/S mirror is blocked by the door and you can't see it. Thats where I wanted to put my blind spots. Oh, and I don't think the D/S will turn in towards the truck far enough for my wife (she is SHORT!)

Vibration is No Problem but...

I have a set of CIPA extending mirrors, from Geno's, on my 1996. They only vibrate a little, and only at idle. They are rock solid the rest of the time. I installed them in 2002, so I can't tell you if they are old or new design.

However, the instructions give a specific torque for the installation bolts, in inch pounds. I recall that it was about 18 inch pounds. Use a torque wrench! 18 inch pounds "felt" tighter than I thought it would be doing it by feel. I suspect that a lot of the reported vibration problems may be caused by insufficient torque.

I have a 1/4 inch drive torque wrench calibrated in 0 to 40 inch pounds, and it has been useful far beyond its price.

I didn't use a torque wrench, I only have one that the minimum is 25' lbs, so thats a little out of the range of the (I'm sure it said 24 or 26" lbs)...

I'm happy with mine, other than its hard to get use to them. I put the blind spots on mine, and now I feel like they are in the way. I wanted to put them in the corner nearest the truck, but when the mirrors are closed, the PS corner is cut off by the window/door. .

Where did everybody else put their blind spots? I didn't use the ones that came with the mirrors, I got the ones that were a little bit larger.

I got mine on a couple of weeks ago

I find they do vibrate a bit but not to the point where I care. Probably as much as the stock ones and basically at idle when the engine is shaking the whole truck!!!

I did use the torque wrench and feel they are very stable.

I found that I did not need a blind spot with them. They are soooo much larger than the itty bitty stock ones. I LOVE that... So much more visible now.

Thanks to all those who commented, this and all the other mods have made this truck seem like a whole new one...

I put them on my '99 and they were just fine. I like the idea of no power extending (less to go wrong from infrequent use) besides it's a reminder to do your walkaround before blast off and after you hook up. .

I opted against the power in/out mirrors because the size was retarded-small. There is really no use for something that small. Plus, if your worried about buying aftermarket mirrors, I can't figure for the life of me why anybody would buy something smaller than stock!

But everybody has their own style. I agree about the size thing, "bigger is better" I wanted the blindspots because I'm so used to them. Its nice to just toss a glance out at the mirror and know your clear for 40+feet to make lane changes, and this is REALLY nice when hauling a 30+' Goose (i'm not yet, but will soon!)

Vibration

I bought the Lucerix heated mirrors from JC Whitney, The passenger side vibrates some, not much, but enough to annoy me at times. I also found out that my CoverKraft truck cover's mirror pockets will not fit over these huge mirrors:mad: I have to slide the cover over the mirror when it's folded in ( which by the way is not flush with the edge of the door:mad: ) the cover then rides to high to fully cover the bottom of the truck!

If any of you guys have the customer service number I could use it, want to call and see what I can do about the vibrating.
