It's a cool-collar that is a perfect match for the oil filter relocation kit. The cool-collar slips over the oil filter and makes nearly 360* contact; it is held in place with two worm screw clamps. Since the relocation kit moves the filter down low enough to be in the vehicle slip stream this should make a nice combo. I have had an oil temp (engine-transmission-rear differential) for 100k miles and have a good idea of normal operating temps so any decrease should be obvious to me. The highest temp I have ever seen was 230*F (before the cool-collar), too hot for comfort. Plus the Cummins has an oil cooler that transfers oil heat to the cooling system, so any heat that can be dissipated by the cool-collar will not have to be dissipated through the engine cooling system.
