I've deleted a number of posts in this thread where a case of incivility poured over from another thread into this one. I have edited the other thread as well. Taken from my post in that thread which I had sent to another member previously:

Thank you Steve for coming and talking to us about this. I understand I am not always right but It is ridiculous how some people in the 3G boards are so rude and cannot even have a conversation about things. Ignoring sounds like a great idea but it is sad it even has to be like that

Erik,

For me it's not the fact that you aren't always right (nobody is), it's the fact that you are always looking to bash a 3rd gen truck. You hate a 3rd Gen truck ... . you hate the "drive by wire" and all of the associated electronics and make that perfectly clear in some way in all of your 3rd Gen posts. The easy answer is to go somewhere else, but you won't, you complain about 3rd Gen trucks all the time in the 3rd Gen forum, and you don't even own one! I haven't checked the 12v board, but I know you baited once and tried to create a 12v vs. 24v fued and then *****ed about censorship after you paid to post on a moderated baord, ... ... ... ... ... ... . I'd jerk your membership if it were me! :D

Nobody is always right, im just not going to bash something good. What would the point be?

I don't mind the 3rd gen truck at all. They are very attractive (not the 06 front ends), comfy, and improved... If they did not have the emission crazed drive by wire electronically controlled injection system, then I would not mind owning one. There is no reason why we cannot have people against things and still be able to be civil and talk about it. My grip is not with the truck but this the injection system and the unneccessary electronics. If I brought a topic about 12v vs 24v, what does that matter? We cannot be honest here about things and have discussions? If we cannot disagree about things without everyone being a big baby and crying over it then lets shut the message boards down. Everyone's opinion is different and everyone is intitled to it. If I bait, then you are a good basher. I post a opinion, you don't agree, you then post your opinion. Instead you just bash me personally instead of giving an opinion to counter mine... .

Dude, the very first time you bashed a 3rd Gen, you went right back to the 12 valve board and said "go look what I did over on the 3rd gen board" ... ... ... ... that's simply trying to cause trouble (and baiting). If I were a psychologist I'd say that you were deprived as a child ... ... ... yanno, that any attention is good attention thing.

You've made it perfectly clear that you don't agree with the "drive by wire" ... ... . get on with it, you own a '96, you aint gonna get a cable again so keep your '96 and quit *****in, K?

Guys, everyone needs to not take things personally. If someone is posting something that rubs you the wrong way move on. If it falls outside of the guidelines report it to the moderator of that forum and if he doesn't take care of it pm/email me and I'll look into it. Just understand that we may not agree that it's against the guidelines. If everyone would just take a deep breathe and realize that just because someone says something that disagree's with your personal belief it doesn't mean their insulting your sister/mother things would go a lot smoother. If you want to make an inital point do it - but to go after it over and over is unnecessary and only fuels the fire. If someone's making an annoyance that's within the guidelines believe me if you ignore it it WILL go away. We'd much rather you guys police yourselves on this stuff than for us to have to step in as the heavy and deal with it - believe me it's not anything we enjoy.

I'll have to back JHardwick on this one. EBottema's post count and join date speak volumes of his "useful" posts and contributions to this site, particularly in the 3rd GEN forums. Many times I wanted to reply and chose not to. I did not pay $35/year for a quarterly magazine with internet access to almost constantly read someone's (EBottema) posts about how big a "turd" my truck is.

Roger that GS. Even while ethics lessons are taking place- this guy is hijacking threads and stirring the pot, a pot that frankly he does not belong in. Baiting people, stating opinions based on... based on... based on... gee, I dont know what they are based on.

Then the old. . "I am entitled to my opinion, or put me on ignore" cliches come out. Thats it, I will hide behind that, and maybe the mods wont see me.

Steve- please convince this guy that if he doesnt have anything nice to say, perhaps he should just keep quite and 99% of this childishness will stop.

It was noted by another poster, this particular gentleman contributes nothing in a 3rd Gen forum. There is something we can all agree on... .

being nice with my words

i see the problem started in 2001 well its mostlikely due to all the guys getting tired of the newer trucks an wanting the 1st gen trucks Oo. :--) :-laf

Hey, I think its Dodge's fault! If they hadn't removed the throttle cable and installed this goofy 'drive by wire' set up, none of this would have happened, and Ebottemsup would be happy, bought a 05, and life would be good for everyone...

Yeah, but since EBoughthima '96, we've got problems. :D

Ya lets see how childish we can get! Anyone else want to take a stab at changing my name for me? 2 guys above did and they are really cool. Keep up the childish attitude guys! :p Last time i remembered, this post was called Civility???

TDR is relativly tame compared to the diesel stop and a certian VW site that is visited once. The diesel stop is usually filled with "seagulls" and "forum trolls" who have nothing better to do than to stir the muck on posted threads. I'm not saying that all their members are like this, but I am going off of what I have seen in the past. The best trans. is the one that never leaves you stranded! ;)

Stayed OUT

I'm glad I stayed out of this one. Ginger said when you are the best it is hard to be humble. Be sure to notice the TDR emblem on the back of my cab and on the back of my 5er. :-laf

Best of cheer!!
