Cj-8 - 3.9 ???

hello everyone,



so i have an 82 cj-8, am planning on complete makeover, axles, trans, glass tub, whole bit...



have a 500cid caddillac that i was planing on running but i have been dreaming of a 4 cill 3. 9. i love my 5. 9 so much why not stay true to form??

i think they come with a TH400??? that would be good so i could adapt a NP205.



my big questions are where could i find info on the 3. 9, what did it come in? how much does it weigh??



anyone put one in a jeep?? the cj-8 has long wheelbase so i think i can swing the drivetrain... .



any informed opinions would be great!!

Go look around the Thunder in Muncie website. There is a guy that has a CJ5 with a 3. 9 in it. Nice looking rig.

Right side of page about half way down.



The 1 ton bread vans is the most likely place to find a engine. There are a couple of places on Ebay that list them all the time.



You could use a T400 or the 700R4 to get OD or use a Dodge trans to get something with OD. .



Don't forget to add lots of sound deadener. That CJ at muncie was loud. Even with the hood down. I hate to think what it sounded like with the top on. He has added a lot of sound deadener between 2003 and 2004 TIM.
