Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) ck eng lite & RPM zero

started getting a check eng lite & RPM needle goes to zero. I still keep running with no problems. As fast as it starts the RPM comes back. In the past week this has happened 5 times, and the check eng lite some mornings does not come on, until the RPM drops off.



2000, 2500, 81255 miles

Possible Crankshaft Position Sensor going bad. Next step is to check codes with a code reader and go from there. Good luck.

I believe Shortshift nailed it. Your symptoms happened to me a couple of years ago. It turned out to be the crankshaft position sensor. Replacement requires removal of the starter, but is a very easy job. Good luck.
