Sitting in my truck with the engine and A/C running. I was holding the RPM at about 1000revs. I was in the truck about ten minutes doing this. I was about to shut down when the ck. eng. light reared it's ugly head. I coded it out and heres what I came up with... . P0500,No vehicle speed sensor signal... a vehicle speed signal was not detected. P1596,speed control switch input above maximum voltage..... I drove the truck after and it didn't go away. I have the batteries dis-connected now for about 2 hrs. How long do you think I need to leave dis-connected or does one have to see the #$@% dealer... ... ... Chris:confused:

Does your speedometer work as before? Might check a couple of things, the electrical connectors rear differential, the front left and right axle, at the CAB (near the brake master cylinder where all the brake lines go near a computer module) and at the ECM, middle connector (passenger side fire wall, three connectors in a row). If all seems in order, probably safe to drive, may take 3 or so separate drives - ie. warm-up, cool-down, not just turning key on/off three times to clear.

Check light came on today then went out later on

What are people using to check and decifer engine codes? Where is the plug? Has anyone found a way to reset the ECM codes without going to a dealer?

I left my batteries dis-connected for two(+) hours. I re-connected them and re-ckecked the odometer read out. It did not show anything and the eng. light was out. Are these problems truely gone now or now just stored? Any answers out there? Chris
