Gooseneck trailer ….???

Looking for help...

Hey Bob, you didn't mention the lift pump- Been there, Done that!

And when a class 8 hits the air horns, the idiots stopped at the green light know where it came from. When I do it in my Ram... they just turn back and forth... . "I wonder where THAT came from????"

Doubleclutch - Lets see working on my 3rd LP and it is starting to act weird so maybe not long before need to change. I have one more Carter Campaign pump then will probably go to a Waldpro 392 I suppose. But then again maybe should put the Waldpro in now and keep the new stock Carter for a spare or sell it.

Bob, you're a leg up on me- ONE lift pump, and a year later the injection pump gave up the ghost! FORTUNATELY, my buddies here, gave me an inkling of what was to come, and it was the dealer's truck when the injection pump quit!

Truly a weak point on the 24v set-up with the VP44.

Wife and I were talking with camp ground hosts last summer who ran a single axle IH to tow their 5th wheel. They said DOT was craking down on overloaded trucks. Leagally if you exceed the factory GCVW you are overloaded and can be ticketed and sit on the side of the road for a while.

It does not matter what the truck can physically move, a sthe GCVW is what it is designed to saftly haul, even though it can handle more.

tgordon - I have no doubt that DOT can side line you for GCVW. The question will they take the time. Been a WHOLE lot of discussion here about that and don't want to get into it right now.

Doubleclutch - yep put more lioft pumps on than you but you have replace the VP and I have not YET. This after having run from I think it was from Cortez Colorado to Santa Fe New Mexico with zero fuel pressure on the gauge. In Santa Fe I opened up the fuel canister and the pump was squirting a little fuel in but certainly if I had lost prime it would have been dead in the water. While I took it easy when I noticed the pressure at zero I was pulling my 14000# 5er. That was 80,000 miles ago and first LP I am soooooo lucky!!! KNOCK on wood and I expect the VP to go at any moment from the 40,000 mile mark to now but so far so good(only more bad LP's). Then again don't do drag racing with 3rd gear launches or anything like that just baby the truck really. You know what they say about bold and old pilots!!!

If anyone wants to know more than they ever wanted to re: class 7/8 tow vehicles check out Escapees RV Club – the club for all RVers and look in the forums under HDT. Mucho Mucho Info. IMHO the HDT was too tall, which is why I went with the 4700 IH crew cab. Left to me alone (no input from wifie) there would definately be a Volvo VNL64 619 in my stable!!!

That DOES NOT apply to 1 ton p/u's. 3/4 tons yes, you are correct.
