I had heard (here?) that there was not a class V hitch available yet for 2003 trucks.

There is, Draw-Tite/Reese have the Titan series which is a true 2 1/2 tube class V now available for the 2003 2500/3500 trucks.

This was the reply to my inquiry back in February:

Thank you for your inquiry, we do not have a hitch for your vehicle. Still

in design stage and no release date is available.

Sorry,

Kathy

Has it been released now?

My brother in law has the Reese Class V hitch mounted on his '03 3500 SRW. It's kind of neat, it is installed just below the stock class IV so that you have the use of both hitches. There is no need to remove the old hitch, in fact it may not be adviseable.

Even some good hitch shops have been told the Titan V receiver is not available. We had a contact in the Canadian plant where they are made--he told us this week they are available. I called the Reese HQ--told they were in a warehouse in this part of the country (Pacific NW). Called our hitch guy and told him this info.

After making my first post I was in the "other" Dodge forum and the Class V receiver was being discussed. A question arose: the new Titan V hitch IS being installed under the Class IV hitch that is stock on the trucks. It is rated at 1200# hitch weight. What happens when you add a Titan V with a hitch rating of 1400#? I'd sue like to get an explanation on this! We have a contact at the Canadian factory that makes the receivers--time for another e mail I guess.

Hitch availability confirmation

I pasted a question to the Reese products web site asking if the Titan Class V was avialable for my '03 and if it would fit if I didn't get the factory hitch. The response from -- email address removed -- was "Yes. " He also sent me a PDF file with the mounting instructions. The new P/N is 45288 and a few days ago when I posted the questions, it was not on their web site yet.

I don't really like how low this hitch is going to hang. It gives me clearance concerns. Anyone else have the same concerns?

I also asked if they would have a front receiver for our trucks. The answer was maybe late summer.
