Chris:
Classic has a website you can review.
Pros... . if you like to travel you'll be paid for it. You can earn extra money.
Cons ... . you'll spend lots of miles behind the wheel and put lots of miles on your truck. There are thousands of pickup truck owners pulling trailers out of the Elkhart area and other areas around the nation working for about a dozen transport companies. Some have been doing it for a million miles or more and like it. Others try it briefly and either go broke or get disgusted. It's not for everyone. Personally, I would not recommend trying to support a family on what you can earn. If your wife (if you have one) has a real job and if you can budget for truck expenses out of your earnings it might be okay for you.
You'll be able to get home whenever you want to. The RV transport companies typically allow you to pick your loads wherever, whenever, and as often as you choose. Classic pays approximately $1/loaded mile. If you want to stay in the area and own an RV, the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds is open year round with full hookups.
I started hauling for Horizon for at the beginning of February. I'm just home for a couple of days. I have been curious about the RV transporters for several years since a friend of mine told me about working for one of them. I'm retired and decided to earn some extra money this year and sent Horizon an application back in December.
Don't expect backhauls... ... . they are rare.
