Hey yall... Not sure I can explain this to justice, but I have a question...

First off... Truck is an 05 QCLB 2500 Cummins. 101k, bone stock. I bought the truck at 94k and have had no problems what so ever. First Cummins or diesel for that matter I have ever had.

The question I have is that I have a "clatter" sound, especially below 2200 rpm when the coolant is cold.

Truck makes great power, starts quick and easy every time even at -20 not plugged in. No smoke, unless I really get on it especially if I haven't pulled anything in awhile (but always black, never white or grey).

Sound is almost similiar to a pre-ignition or spark knock in a gasser motor.. Not real loud at all. Have to have all the windows up and radio off to hear it.

I have checked all injector lines, they are tight... Might this be a normal sound for the mighty Cummins?

What do you all think this sound could be? Could it be something I should be worried about?

I tried to take a video this morning to post so you all could hear it, but I wont even bother attaching it as you can't hear the sound in the video.

Thanks for any help yall may be able to give.

Commonly called injector rattle. It is pretty normal for the stock injector nozzles. Maybe running additves will help, maybe not.

my truck make sound your talking about, but I hear it especially when driving along a wall with the window half down and just riding at about 1500-1700 rpm ....to me it sounds like a gas ping too....
