shelf life of diesel & should i stock up on fuel now

Did anybody else notice the signs over the highway around Indy during the diesel nationals that said it was clean air week, and not to mow your grass. I had to laugh as I was engulfed by smoke from the trucks ahead of me! :-laf I wonder if some scientist is wondering why the smog level at indy actually went up that weekend! Especially saturday night! :D

LOL, I saw the "knozone" signs too, I guess that weekend was a good time for an ozone awareness event, lol

Clean air

I saw the signs on the hiway they were somewhere in the area where another sign said mowing the next 5mi. LOL Thanks Steve B.

Believe it or not, those little gasoline lawn mowers probably ARE responsible for more "smog" than even large "smoky" diesels. That's because VOCs are largely responsible for ground-level ozone formation (the primary constituent of "smog"). Lawn mowers have essentially no emission control (i. e. , high "tailpipe" emissions) and give off relatively large quantities of fugitive/evaporative VOCs (gasoline is highly volatile!). Diesel engines emit relatively low levels of VOCs (often near zero) and have virtually no fugitive/evaporative VOCs because of the non-volatile nature of diesel fuel.
