Yup, that's about what mine looked like... cleaned it about two months ago. Funny thing is it didn't do a darn thing, as far as temp goes... . truck stays at 190*, except when I floor it... then it goes to around 205*

Hi Fred, I just got back from the car wash with it and couldn't believe how much came out of that thing. It was caked all the way through. Ya got to feel better knowing all that gunk is gone even if the temp gauge doesn't know any better. Glenn

Good thing is the clean area is still huge which keeps it going OK. If you were operating the engine at full rated power in warm temps... it would probably have some issues.

You know, I keep hearing about how the crank case vent bottle is the culprit for all the crud on our radiators, but I completely disagree. First off, I can't see how a fan that sucks air could spit it back at the rad. Second, my 1997 was a V8 and had the exact same crud buildup on the radiator as the CTD; as far as I know, the 5. 9L gasser has no crank case vent bottle.

I think it's just 100,000+ miles of crap flying into, and getting sucked through your radiator, as you're flying down the road.

Either way, Glenn you're right, it's one less monkey on my back, knowing that it's clean now.
