there have been several threads about this

I cleaned my 2 times and it was very dirty both times I have pacbrake and use it alot I ohmed the sensor out the last time and it didn't fall in to the right numbers so I replaced it the truck runs 10times better more smoke more hp can't keep foot out of it long enough to check mileage major improvement! I should have done it a long time ago.

SBR you have a auto and no exhaust brake . Thats why it was clean ,the valve over lap caused by exhaust brake pushing back in to the intake manifold leaves soot and covers the thermistor with a coating of soot and some oil . Ron in Louisville KY Oo. Oo. Oo.

Hey Guys...

12v trucks do not have a IAT sensor, rather they have a ATS (Air Temperature Sensor), this measures the incoming air, then sends that info to the PCM which uses the data to cycle the timing of the air heater...

Being new to all this, I went out to my truck looking for the IAT and could not find it, Then went to the trusty Repair Manual and read up on the sensors.

So, you new or unknowing TCD owners (like me) of 12v deisels, don't go looking for something that isn't there. .

Thanks
