my brother in law is currently running the original 370's. he is wanting to put in new injectors with about the same amount of power but he is looking for the smoothest clean burning injector with the best spray pattern thats intended for his 12v. i dont know much about the 12v's, but i told him that Formula 1 makes a very good injector for the 24v's. any help would be appreciated.

red oak diesel makes a great injector for the 12 valve its as good as a 370 but no smoke they use a flat spray tip i think its the flatist tip that bosch makes and then uses a . 005 copper and that in turn gives you about one degree of static time and also no smoke plus the up side it makes a ton of power and less noise. they are better that 370's in the cold start too.

look on ebay i think his name is the thedieseldude but if you look at 12 valve injectors he sells them for about 499 plus core. i have them in my truck and they are great.

DDP's would be one choice.

The Morrison HotRod 370's are stout as are his Mach 4's.

The list could go on and on as many are doing 12v stuff. Either of the above would be the best bet... ... . Andy

Do you mean "thedieseldude"?? I've been looking at his injectors for quite a while and am intending to direct part of my Christmas bonus his way in a couple weeks when I've got time to change them. Good to hear from someone having good luck with them.

Injectors do add timing....

I just had a set of Red Oak injectors installed today. We checked timing before with a timing light and had 16. 8 at the injector (I have mine bumped a little). Installed injectors and reshot timing getting 17. 9 with the new Red Oaks. My old original injectors pop tested around 3200. The new Red Oaks were 3300. I think the lower pop pressure is adding the timing. We just happend to be sitting on a dyno and did a before and after run. Just the addition of these injectors in my setup added another 31hp pushing my setup just over 400. We did a run just before installing the injectors for baseline.

I was drawn to these inejctors for the mpg claims. I really did not want any more power. I talked to Stan at Red Oak a couple times (712) 623-2221. He stressed the fuel savings and smoke cleanup over power. He said these injectors were the same as a 215 nozzle as far as # holes and spray angle just larger diameter holes. The tips are Bosch factory new... untouched.

My engine ran pretty smooth with the old injectors but these new injectors made it ever smoother.

I am also interested in cold weather improvements as my old ones were getting hazing and stinky when cool - cold.

Time will tell on these.

Most injectors like 370's pop are too low for me, I have found on 370's that if you raise the pops to say 4200 they are alot cleaner and better overall.

Having said that if I were looking into a cleaner injector I'd have to go with a small set of DDP's like stage 1's or 2's but I don't know what they set pops at.

Idle haze gone....

My old injectors used to idle haze pretty bad. Also, very sticky white smoke that burned your eyes when temps below 30. These new injectors cleared all that up.

I was told factory spec on new 215s is 3850. Mine lost 600 over 300K miles.

I havent run any 6 hole'rs but I do have a set of 9 hole as well as a set of 10 hole. The 10 hole ones I put in a 93 ve pumped truck to see what they would do (they were the small body injector for a 1st gen), and with just the fuel pin ground and screw turned it made 270ish with an hx35/16. They haze at idle, bit I presume its due to the low injection press of the VE.

Ive never tried the 9 hole ones I have. they have 5 . 009" holes and 4 . 010" holes.

I currently run a set of 5x. 013's and love em, oldies made by don morrison back in the day... way back.

I'm glad to hear some more info on the Red Oak injectors. I have been looking at "thedieseldude"s injectors on EBay for a while now, but haven't heard much about them on TDR. I wondered what was done to them to improve them over stock.

JJW_ND: Have you driven enough to get a feel for the mileage improvements? Please let us know what you find on that aspect. I too am wanting to improve MPG with a more efficient injector.

I am getting 17. 5-18 MPG on my original sticks. The truck is tame with only a 10 plate at mid-position(pulled back power because my clutch was crying) and a BHAF, plugged wastegate line. I also have an iron flatbed on now. With fuel like it is, any improvement in mileage would help. Can any of you guys think of injectors that would help?
