Cleaning dirty/oily shop rags

How do you guys/gals clean your dirty or oily shop rags? I'm not sure about cleaning them in the washer/dryer for fear of starting an :-{} with the wifey. Seems like it would make more sense to try and clean them than just tossing them and getting new ones. Is there any trick to washing them in the washer and not leaving behind a mess that will goof up the regular laundry?

Go to a coin operated laundry mat.

Let em soak

in simple green for an hour or two then rince them out. Then they are safe for sweety's washer. It seems like a lot to go thru for a couple of rags doesn't it.

I wait until wifey is out of town or something. When washing, use lots of soap and only hot water. I don't bother with the dryer, just air dry in the garage.

Cleaning shop rags?

I use worn out clothing or those red dyed rags you buy at Parts stores or BJ's or someplace. As they get dirty, I use them to grease equipment or whatever. From there, they go in the garbage.
