CB Radio Transmitt Problems

I just bought a new (used) fiberglass boat last week. The boat is a 1990 and the fiberglass/gel coat has faded or oxidized over the years. It still looks OK but I'd like to try and get rid of the dull look and give it some more shine.

Anyone know of a good rubbing compound or other cleaner that'll work good for cleaning the gel coat?

Any tips or tricks for getting the job done?

Also, I've got a few deep scrapes in the Gel coat that I'd like to repair. Does anyone have any tips on Gel coat repair?

Thanks,

Mike

3M makes some really good compounds and waxes. You will need a high speed buffer to bring back the shine.

The deep scratches can be fixed with a gel-coat filler, they also have colors to tint the filler. When the filler is dry, a little wet sanding and buffing will make it look new!

West Marine or Boaters World sell the stuff you'll need!

Good Luck!

Mcquires make a system just for this. Check out the spelling of there name and look up there website.

I have been reading lots of websites on boat restoration and everybody seems to love the mcquires.

Wallmart had the 3M compounds so I picked up a buffer and the compounds last night. I'll give it a go with the 3M and if I don't get the results I'm hoping for McQuires is next in line.

Havn't found a gel coat repair kit yet but I'm still looking.

Thanks for the info fellas.
