I wonder what you might be using to clean this plastic and than to prevent the fading... and stains... is there a product that won't eventually wash out the color with repeated use....

Thanks for your thoughts....

I've been using a product called Trim Shine, by Stoner products, makers of Invisible Glass. 13 years and mirrors are still black !

jelag. I have been using 303 Aerospace Protectant for a long time, first as a UV protectant for the dashboard but use it for all other soft plastic
and rubber. It prevents the cracking of sun exposed tire sidewalls and dash tops. I even apply it to windshield wiper blades too. It is basically
a UV protectant and does not leave any shine for cosmetic purposes, just leaves the natural appearance. It is also used on pool covers and marine and is non toxic. It does
need to be re applied often as it doesn't last. Unlike the silicone oil based stuff, it doesn't leave a slick shine that can intensify the effects of the sun.

I also use 303 Aerospace Protectant and it works well on many items as explained in the previous post. Works well on bumper covers, and Jeep Wrangler fenders.

I've never used it, but reading this thread got me interested so I checked it out. It appears to be made by Gold Eagle. It looks like it gets stellar reviews wherever I've seen it online. It's available on Amazon, but using the link above I also did a store search for my area up to 20 miles. It seems like Advance Auto Parts sells it in their store, as does a place called Discount Hitch, one Autozone and a Cabelas. A search of O'Reilly's website indicated that they sold it in stores in my area, too. I've always referred to Armor All as crack for vehicles, and one reviewer on Amazon said something similar. This stuff looks like the real deal.

I have never seen it in stores, and order mine on line. Don't remember exactly where since I got a large amount the last time I ordered.

My .02 cents. 303 is a water based product and works fine for interiors. Put it on outside plastic and it gets wet you can imagine what happens. There are better products for this. One approach I use is collinite Fleet Wax 870 which is a All in one cleaner wax to clean the plastic then apply Collinite 476S or 885 for durability. Another is to use Duragloss 253 which is a protectant with Rain Repel. These are the mirrors on the Wife's Van which is a 2005 and spent it's whole life outdoors in Arizona.

So I found the 303 behind the counter at both O Reilly and Autozone but it was behind the counter... neither crew had any idea why its behind the counter... it was about $2 more than buying at Amazon... I don't do prime so it wasn't a bad value.... I also picked up the Trim Shine product... I've and older Sheriff's car to test both products on before I use them on my truck... but I know I need to do something...

Thanks for all your input...

Camping World also stocks it. It's probably behind the counter because of the price. I don't know how you could stuff a gallon of this stuff in your pants, even if your pants are below your *****.
