i asked this question awhile ago but can't find the thread, someone said they just dip the filter in a bucket of simple green for a few then rinse, anyone know if the simple green will damage the material? should i dilute the simple green?

I use Simple Green and a bucket deep enough to submerge the filter. I do dilute it maybe a cup to couple gallon and half or so. I submerge for a few minutes, then use a very soft brush on the outside, rinse from inside with no pressure, submerge again for a few minutes, rinse from inside with no pressure and then let air dry for a day. I have second filter always clean, oiled and ready to install.

thanks, thats just what i was looking for

And as far as re-oiling goes I do use the AFE spray, I am kind of anal about using manufacture supplied products. I wait until filter is completely dry. Spray a thin coat of oil and let it sit for a day or two. See if any dry or non consistent areas show and if so spray another thin coat of oil on that area and once again let it sit for day or two. If it looks consistent with oil then I bag it and put it on the shelf for the next swap and clean.
