Washer/Dryer Install Question

Scotty RV

I usually just find some plastics safe contact cleaner and spray it in the plug. A pipecleaner or small brush works good for getting the corrosion out of the trailer end. I nevr had a problem with the 7 pin plug but the factory 4 pin plug on my truck is a lost cause. The 4 pin plug fills up with road salt all winter. I carry a can of wd40 around in the truck to coax that plug into working when I need it.

I've had pretty good luck with electrical spray cleaner (not the radio/cd cleaner stuff) you can pick up at about any auto parts store. Spray it in let it set for a couple min or so and hit it with my battery brush.

Or just save the hassle, and buy new connectors. At least that way, you know you are getting a good contact surface. I always keep extras in the toolbox, should one become defective for any given reason. Its cheap insurance, and y'all should think of keeping extra stuff and nick-nacks like that too. . Just an idea.

I like to take some baking soda and some hot water, mixed into a paste..... use a tooth brush to smear it on and brush it clean..... the baking soda will work well on batteries as well... its has enough abrasive material in it to clean and than rinse with hot water..... I than use some dieletric grease to prevent further corrosion...

 First use contact cleaner and a small brass brush. After you get the contacts clean put a SMALL amount of dielectric grease on both ends and pick up a cap for your trailer pigtail. You can do the same for your 4 pin connector also. An old electrician at the plant told me this and I have not had any problems with my connectors since. This works will with ANY outdoor connections like, Christmas lights, water pounds ECT. The number one thing is to put a cap on the ends. Hope this helps you out :D
