cover the air filter with a plastic bag, spray down engine compartment with Simple Green, let it sink in for 5 mins or so, then wash the Simple Green off with low pressure water hose.

make sure the engine is completely cool when you do this, let it dry overnight or so

thats how I wash mine

Same here. However, I must have let it sit too long because it began eating the paint off the valve cover logo.

that paint isnt the most durable in the world.

mine is barely visible, because of laying on top of the motor, and it will rub off, etc, etc

I use "Castrol Super Clean" or "Purple Power" degreaser.

I use a pump-up sprayer and power wash the motor from a good distance ... ... call me dangerous.

My procedure is engine degreaser on the heavier stuff, and purple Castrol stuff diluted 50% for the rest. Then I take a pump up weed sprayer with mild detergent and hot water to spray it off, then final rinse-down with a garden hose.

I agree 100%... it works awesome... . i do mine 3-4 times a year and it still looks new Oo.

I use the windex outdoor window cleaner, then a low pressure rinse. The motor should be slightly warm and leave the hood open for a few hours.
