ive been through 3 sets of recons and all of them leaked. the hi-five amber one's i have currently are starting to crack, and its time to replace. is anyone else making clear cab lights with black bases besides recon. it seams they all leak at the rear of the light between the base and the lense. i wondered if i installed the 3rd gens with screws in the front and back would fix?

any ideas?

i love the look of the smoked lights on my truck and would like a set that would work.

advise... ... help... ... anything... .

We've been sending out the 3rd gen clear recon lights for a while now and have had no issues. My dually has them and havent had any issues either. Not a bad idea, trying the 3rd gen on the 2nd gen - might work. Maybe a little silicone would do the trick.

I have the clear Recons on my '01 truck for a couple months and didn't have a leak inside the cab yet in all the rain I drove in the last couple of days. But 80% of the time it's in the garage out of the elements. The only thing I don't like about them is having to cut and splice their light socket plug to fit in the light housing, so I ended up taking my pocket knife and trimmed the hole bigger in the Recon's to accomadate the factory light socket.

How do the Recon light fit you cab??, I bought some for my truck (2002), but the lights do not match the curve of the cab very well, I don't know if it is because the cab lights are installed in the wrong place (kit) or the Recon lights are off. The lights installed now are the Bee-hive style (Peterson 120), not sure if those are akit or the factory lights.

Thanks Pete

Pete, if your truck is a 2002 model,it should have the longer, flatter styled lights, not the beehive style. I would guess your lights may have been added afterwards with a kit. I think Dodge changed the cab light style in 1999 from beehive to the flat style. I know one guy who bought a 2001 truck and had the dealership where he bought his truck from add the cablights on and he ended up with the beehive style, which wouldn't have been the correct year styled light... ... . just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I figured it was something like that, probably installed after the fact, to bad, cause I really like the Recon lights, but they just don't fit right.

Thanks for the info

Leaking Recon Lights

I have run silicone around them, and they still leak. . I will try to pull the lens off, and run a bead of silicone around to see if that works. . I put LED lights inside the smoke lenses, and they work really well... you can't see them light up from the side but that's fine with me... I put the newer style ('01) style lights on my truck. . they look alot better than the beehive style lights. . BY FAR! Just chiming in, and saying my Recon's leak too.
