I'm looking at picking up another Cummins pickup - one that has been used around a farm quite a bit.

It is apparent that marked (untaxed) Diesel fuel has been used in the vehicle more than once which makes sense as the truck has farm tags.

If I were to buy this vehicle, how would I go about getting rid of the marked fuel? Does it clear up after a number of tanks? I don't want to run into problems down the road (from a legal perspective)

Or should I just not worry about it?

Nothing to lose sleep over. 1-2 tanks and it'll be 99% gone.

I know some guys, wink-wink, that run dyed diesel all the time. When pulling apart fuel filters or anything else after running a tank of clear through it, you can't tell the red was there.

Now, the better way of doing this is to get clear farm diesel... ie, untaxed, but un-red as well. I don't know anyone that does that though... . wink-wink
