Check out this national NHTSA commercial and tell me if you notice anything about the make of every vehicle in the ad except for the cop cars:

They're all GM vehicles, right? If so, does that imply GM is contributing financially to the commercials? I just find it kind of interesting.

The seatbelt law is just like the child restraint law, very little teeth. I have never been pulled over for no seatbelt except once when a podunk town set up a road block similar to those they use to catch DWI drivers. Was kind of stupid due to the fact that all the towns officers were sitting in a 7-11 parking lot waiting for the officer in the street to direct you over to them. The way I see I am old enough to buy beer, vote and die for my country and I am certainly old enough to decide on whether or not to use a seatbelt.

If something needs to be done to improve safety on the road then patrol officers need to start ticketing those that are unsafe and drive recklessly which puts the rest of us at risk.

Except for the road blocks, police in Arkansas can't stop you for not having your seat belt fastened - unless someone changed the law recently. I keep mine fastened.

Several deaths recently in our area have been attributed to being ejected from the vehicle.

One passenger is a single car accident lived because he was ejected while NOT wearing a seat belt. The driver wasn't so lucky. Porsche at 120 MPH and a concrete bridge has a way of doing that to you.

They do it all the time here in CT. I don't wear mine, everyone else in the family does. All my 4 year old says is "Daddy... Click it or ticket":)
