ok, please bear with me all. i've noticed a metallic clicking noise when the engine is running and it occurs every 10-20 seconds however usually about 13 seconds apart. yea, lucky 13. it sounds like someone flicking a metal bowl on the bottom side with a metal ruler to the best of my sound comparison skills. i'm curious as to the nature of this sound, as i can't seem to locate it while the truck is running-too much ambient cummins roar. any thoughts? thanks in advance.

Do the lights dim and does this occure when it is very cold??

If so, my bet is that you are hearing a relay click when the grid heaters cycle.

I am in Sherwood just South of Portland.

it seems to occur when it's warm and cold. i don't think it's the grid heaters as the volt meter stays steady-no light dimming. any other ideas? mundgyver- i'm about to tackle the slop issue in the front end and would be interested in seeing what worked for you.

IF you have the defrosters on, the A/C pump cycles to remove excess humidity from the air - might be hearing the A/C clutch engage/disengage...

Hmmmm, not sure, I would have to hear it. I have a Darins Steering Stabalizer and a 3rd gen track bar installed in the front end of my truck.

gary, i think you nailed it. can't hear it when the floor heat or vents are selected. thanks for helping me sleep at night. as you all may know, this is my 1st ctd and i'm super nervous about/protective of her.

It's your baby, right?:-laf

I think i have the same noise. Does it sound as if it coming from the lower dash on the driver's side? It has freaked me out a few times - ecspecially when someone asks "what is that noise?" - and i have to lie or say that it is just nothing.

with my luck its bare wires rubbing that will cause a huge fire ball explosion:eek: or something
