I thought I had (another) u-joint going bad... very slight vibration at highway speed. It's something I would notice driving it every day, but nobody else would. So, with new Spicer in hand, I expected to feel a looseness in the u-joint (rear) as I turned it by hand. What I found though, was both u-joints seem solid, BUT there is a kind of random "ticking" in the output housing of the transfer case. The yoke also seems to have a lot of "slop" (movement) in the housing, but I don't really know how much there should be. The best I can describe the sound I'm hearing is like the randomness of a stone in a hubcap, but much smaller of course and it appears to be between the PTO cover and the yoke.
The truck just turned 125K and is a '99 standard cab 4X4 with a five speed. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks,
Ed
