Climate control panel illumination

"04 2500". The illumination behind the climate control panel is getting dimmer by the day. Anyone know how to remove the panel? Are there bulbs behind it? Or is it more like fiber optic?

Panel is a piece of cake to remove. First, remove the screw that's in the "bag hook" over by the passenger side of the dash. Then pull the entire dash center portion straight toward the back of the truck. It uses metal retaining tabs to hold it in place, so pull hard and it'll POP off.



Once that's off it'll be obvious how to remove the climate control panel (depending on the model, it'll have 4 screws and a couple electrical connectors). I've never actually opened up that panel, so I don't know what sort of bulbs are required.

The book shows bulb and socket 5013815aa

it shows a qty of 1 but I don't know if I would trust that

Mine went out twice. I took it apart the second time, but couldn'd see how to remove a bulb. I was in a truck stop killing time giving the horses a breather and it was dark ... ... ..... put it back together and it hasn't went out since. I'm sure I got a filament hanging or something.
