GREAT WHITE

No I have not received mine yet. And if I can I will take my truck to T. O. this time. I'm gonna try and avoid CROWN DODGE IN VENTURA CA. like the plague, hiv, hep b,coodies etc etc etc. I rubbed my chap stick across the plug for re-flash to see if they hooked up to it and it appears they havn't yet. Talk to ya later. Dwayne:mad:

Thanks for the info on MDH.

I had my truck done this morning. I dropped it off (7:15) and went to work, got call that they where done at around (9:00). I talked to the Mechanic he replaced the unit. I tested my CC on the way in to town and it was still working.

See Ya

spoke too soon

Well, I guess the information is good for everyone... Thanks Thomas. I got my notice in the mail yesterday. Now I just have to find the time and courage to take my beloved truck to the apostate dealer.

Got my notice today  So now the fun starts  It's not broken so I have to take it in so some one I don't know can fix it  This don't sound good :(

guess there is a good reason I live rural... the local dealer has them in stock with the latest part# [last diget is a G]. . mine broke about 1 month ago at 20k miles

I got mine yesterday , i think i'm going to wait awhile so they can practice on non TDR members , just don't want to be the first ginypig

I received my recall on Thursday. I dread taking it to the dealer for ANYTHING. Anyone know if there is a time limit on this safety recall?

So, what if I wait till my original clockspring breaks OR till some day when I'm totally bored... say 2 years from now and then take it in?

I seem to remember that Safety recalls have no expiration date.

Thanks,

Mick

Same ol' Spring!

Hey guys,

I had mine in the dealer the other day for the recall. It broke about 1 week before I got my notice in the mail. After they fixed it, I asked the service rep if it was the same piece he put back in, or if it was a new redesigned spring. He said it was the same spring! Heck, at least he was honest! If you ask me, that is about as smart as chasing rabbits on a bulldozer!!!:D

Mick, I don't believe there is a time limit (statute of limitation) on the saftey recall. Just got mine. I feel the same way, I will do it when I get to it.

Don't worry, they've had LOTS of practice already. My dealer said even before the recall, his mechanics had done so many they were doing them now in record time (practice makes perfect).

Questions asked by others:

I called DC, and they insisted 1) the part has been recently redesigned so that it should not break again and 2) this is so new that many dealers will not have the new improved part yet, so even if you just got it replaced, go back and get a new one anyway. My dealer was GREAT (Hagan's Dodge, Morrilton, AR), had the parts in stock, and got mine replaced the same day I was in for some other work. DC recommended calling your dealer to be sure they have the parts because they just recently began shipping the new ones; some dealers probably don't have them yet.

Benson,

I think if we were going to have the problem, we would have had it by now. This will be one of those things I put off till it's necessary OR I'm bored. :)

Howdy all,

Sorry I have been off the board for the past week, was out of town and had no internet access.

Yep, my clockspring did go out about a month ago. Got a Dodge dealer down in Southern Cal to fix it completely free. I actually got an official DC recall notice in the mail last week also.

By the way, my truck was manufactured in Mexico in August 2000.

Also, when I took it into the dealer, I was very nervous because I have BOMB related stickers all over my truck (K&N, DD, etc. . ) and was afraid when they opened the hood, they'd see the DD TTPM, Psychotty, etc. , and tell me to shove off. I was down south visiting my family when the spring broke, so I didn't have much choice, had to take it in right away without being able to remove/hide the various BOMBs. But they never said a word. Maybe didn't have to open the hood, I don't know.

If anyone is curious, I took it to Cerritos Dodge, in the Cerritos Auto Mall.

I have a G in the 11 digit followed by a -167588. Am I wrong to assume that I don't fall into the problem as the MDH #s are 0523XX thru 102310??

HC, bought my truck used from Hagan's Dodge in Morrilton. Waiting for them to get my new lift pump in so i can make an appointment for them to replace it. They have been great to work with. Have you had to worry about being "RE-Flashed" while there?
