I went to Dicks Country Dodge in Hillsboro Oregon to get my clock spring replaced. After the Tech finished the job he took my truck for a drive. The next thing I hear is my truck leaving the lot at over 2500 RPM and the turbo spooled all the way up. He was gone for over five minutes. He came back and shut the truck down…. . EGT was at 600F the brakes smelled hot. I WAS P!$$ED. I grabbed the keys and started the truck back up. It took two minutes to cool it down to 350F. I have not been this ticked off since the TG watch on my watchteam blew out a rupture boot on a TG Condenser when I was in the Navy. The Lot Monkey said he took it easy on it……. yeah right. I tore into the Service Manager in front of everyone. All he had to say was that my clock spring was replaced and I could be on my way…. . no apology or anything. He just shrugged his shoulders and gave me a stupid look…that put me past the limiter. I was about to pound the guy. I told him if his Service Monkey wanted to play with a $32000 toy that he should GET HIS OWN! I also told him that I am never coming back for any business……He said that was my choice and walked away. Maybe I should go back and tell them they burned up my clutch, then I can get a new one for free.

Cliff, as much as I hate to say it cause I'm a most peacefull guy, I think you were right with your first thoughts, He would not only remember you but would also remember the situation with the next customer if you would have left him eating his supper through a straw for the next 6 weeks... ... ... ... ... ... . Pete

Yeah, I am usually a very easygoing guy myself. I am still a bit torqued.

Looking back on the whole episode, I gave the guy a butt chewing of the likes my old Company Commander in Boot Camp could only dream about :D Wow that felt good... I thing he was about ready to cry.

I'm glad ya didn't punch the guy. That would have ended with me coming all the way down there to bail ya out of jail!:D

Then there would be the attorney's fees, etc. There are much better ways to deal with this. Although, probably none that would feel as good.

Not to be a smart aleck, because I know how I'd feel in your situation, but it sounds like you need to install a valet switch. Or find a shop that'll let you drive it in and out yourself, so you don't have to turn the keys over to the lot monkey.

BTW... you didn't say whether you removed anything prior to taking it in... did ya? Did they see anything? What was their reaction... other than the "test" drive?
