I have a very noticeable clunk when I turn the wheel, doesn't matter which way. I have checked and replaced almost everything in the front end. I am now beginning to think it ios actuall the front ring gear and pinion making all of that noise. Is that possible? Can the bearings be that bad???? I have never changed them, or adjusted them or anything and I do have 462K on the truck.

Any ideas?

When you find out what it is I would like to know. I have been trying to trace mine out also. The only place I can really feel it is in the front bumper.

I have orderd a Lukes Link for the Track Bar, ( I have a lot of play on the frame end up and down )

I also ordered a Sector Shaft Stabilizer "ESS" This is where I was told the problem is.

I used a stethascope for a couple hours until my wife got tired of turning the wheel back and forth, couldn't locate noise.

I took it to the friendly Dodge dealer here, They told me I needed to replace everything in the front end and they would be glad to do it for a big price. :p

I have a periodic clunk in the front end of my truck. It turned out to be the driver side engine mount was toast. Check that, it will cause a steering clunk and a clunk when you put the clutch in

Here's another bit of information. Tonight on my way home, I put the truck in 4 wheel. Every turn it didn't make a sound. Take it out of 4 wheel, the cluink returns.

What's the deal???
