Lost some MPG... what do you think?

I decided to replace the 5 piece rear main seal this weekend, and opened up a can of worms. The pilot bushing was broken, and chunks of it were imbedded into the facing of the clutch disc. So rather than put the chattering, slipping into 3rd, worn out Sachs back in, its going to be clutch replacement time. I think I've narrowed it down to the SBC MU0090 Con O, or the stock 13" Sachs. I do not plan on towing over 8,000 lbs, yet the longevity of the SBC disc worries me. The chatter of the old Sachs was unacceptable in terms of drivability in traffic, and I'd like to avoid going through that again. If the 13" Sachs had a light pedal, and didn't have a tendency to chatter, I wouldn't be debating this. Any constructive input would be appreciated.

Also, does anybody know what the bearing number is that quad4x4 is selling for use as a pilot bearing? I'm guessing a BCA 304-FF.

I've had 7 Sachs clutches (in 7 trucks), and none of them chattered unless they were on their way south (counting the current one, that makes 2). What have you heard about the longevity of the SBC clutch? I've heard good things about them. They do say if you tow heavy (I wouldnt think 8k would qualify) with 600+ lb-ft torque (about 240hp in our trucks- very attainable with stock injectors), move up to a Cono, ConFe, or ConOFe.

Hmmmm... ... Its interesting how people's opinions are different. I don't think my Sachs has a very heavy pedal, I think its got good pedal feel. I also don't think mine chatters at all. Thats with probably 80,000 real hard miles on it. The only complaint I have with the Sachs is the inability to hold 3rd gear, trying to pull the sled off the line at about 1800-2000 rpms... . :-laf

I'm going to call Peter at South Bend tomorrow and see what he recommends. My concern with the SBC 12. 25" is with the center hub breaking out of it. I've seen it happen on a couple of stock 94+ trucks. I'm really leaning towards getting the Sachs at this point, and not having to worry about anything breaking in clutch department.
