Delivered a peace of equipment wednesday night and all was well. Thursday morning got on the interstate, put in 5th and stepped down on throttle the rpm's went up , but no aceleration. I couldn't belive it. I babied it home and looked it over. Couldn't see anything externally wrong,so I called the dealer. They said bring it right up. Turns out they had one fail @ 600mi. , guess I'm lucky to have made it to 2300 mi. . Apparently there is a problem with the clutches. Service mgr. said they will replace the flywheel, disc and ppa. I hope the new parts are not the exactly like what they removed. I stressed to them that I really need this truck everyday! Nothing to do ,but sit and wait. Really bumbed!!

Broken '07 3500 C&C w/6 spd. manual & 6. 7L

With the new 6 speed auto, they might just as well give up on the g56. They chose a 500 ft-lb transmission, stretched to the limit, when they have a bigger one, just a couple pounds heavier rated for about 700 ft-lb. The engine is derated (compared to the auto) just to make it through the short warranty.

The warranty on the clutch sucks too. 12K? Looks like the aisin with its LOOONG warranty is a much better deal.

On the 4500/5500 it looks like they are using the bigger stickshift transmission, judging from the 0. 74 overdrive ratio.

The 6 spd. auto is only 3 yrs or 180,000 miles. How many people are putting that kind of mileage on? Most will run out of time. The trans is not what failed, it is the clutch. I told dealer that I want to see the failed parts when I pick the truck up. The way it acted, I think somthing in the PPA failed. Maybe I can get pics of failed parts to post.

The 45/5500 6-speed manual should be using nothing less than MB's G85 manual transmission.

And manual trannies are ALWAYS better than automatics. ;)

More than likely it was the flywheel, it is my understanding that they have had problems with them, although not that quick. Right now the Aisin transmission seems to be working fine. I don't miss rowing through the gears at all. I figure I will run out of the 180k warranty in about 2 yrs although if it stays as slow as it has been this past week it might take a little longer.

A friend of mine that bought a new one a couple of months ago had his clutch fail with less than 600 miles. Oddly enough he bought this new truck because his 05 48re transmission was acting up. .

D/C is aware of clutch issues on the 6. 7 clutch pkg. There is a rapid response issued to run a very explicit test drive sequence to get it hot and load it hard to test the entire system.

I agree, we are talking about a clutch problem here not a trans. Sorry to here about the problem you incountered, althouigh it appears to be isolated at this time. I am in the middle of final spec on a new mega cab 3500 6. 7L, 6 spd manual (auto is too new and very expensive). I will be watching this forum very closely in the future for any information.

I was not happy with the latest TDR magazine there was very little on the new 6. 7 program although if you order a new ram 2500/3500 truck thats what you get. Now I have to wait three months for the next one. . Ah well. I look forward to learning more.

Wonderful ... Just as I am getting ready to go look some over seeing as how my 5600 took a dump this morning !!!!!! #@$%!

Almost all commercial vehicles I'd say...

Better than 3yrs, 36k. We were out of the 36k mark in only a few months.
