When I wrote about my clutch troublems it was supposed to say 8th " steel flex plate not 8" flex plate and yes I know a flex plate is used for the the automatics but in my truck they redesigned it with a flex plate and five bolts hold the clutch flywheel asembly to that 1/8" flex plate and the flex plate is bolted to the crank shaft the first factory clutch only lasted to about 50,000 miles my first replacement lasted six months and it disinterested the flex plate the second replacement lasted about five months when th TBwent through the pressure plate fingers and started to jam the clutch marketing it hard to get into gear and rattled all the time the third one went out all of a sudden and stoped the truck dead in it's track just a good thing I was just baking out of my drive way this last time about five to seven months and it snapped one dowl pin vibrated two or three bell housing bolts and snapped three bolts cracked the bell housing I two spots and cracked the transfer Cass.plus damaged the lines and a few other parts I can't remember but this is where I am with this truck Intel this truck I have been s die hard mopar man if you can give me any advice on this and if there had been anyone else has any simular trouble ad three clutchs in 18 months of ownership is just not right thank you all cowboyhorsetrainer

South Bend Clutch makes a great unit for your application. I would go with the more reliable, single setup but even their double is very good. would also have another shop do the work.
Either clutch is better than the OEM.

I highly recommend South Bend Clutch in your situation, but if your running stock, or close to stock power, go with a single disk, in a Single Mass Flywheel. Stay away from the dual disks unless you need the extra pressure due to your application. If you call SBC, they'll go over your application and give you an honest evaluation, and they won't try to sell you something you don't need to pad their profits. I've talked face to face with Peter from SBC, he's a strait talking gentelman, and knows his business well. There has been situations that they covered the warranty, even when it wasn't their fault. And if you have paid someone for your clutch jobs, DO NOT GO BACK THERE.

Good luck
Steve

To the OP, best not to start a new thread on same exact situation, just continue with original in the future.
